US Senator got more than he bargained for when he stopped .. to buy shoes

U.S. Senator got more than he bargained for when he stopped off to buy shoes

<snip> Frist was buying pricey shoes beneath the offices of Americans United to Protect Social Security, and .. 40 to 50 people demonstrated against Frist's support for President Bush's plan to privatize Social Security ... On a side note, the Senator received a parking ticket because his SUV was illegally parked.

25. Some 'contributer' will pay for the ticket.
No problem for Frist there. Some 'contributer' is probably paying for the expensive shoes, too.

As an aside, in Canada, our much reviled last Conservative prime minister was badly hurt by a shoe incident. Some workmen did a job on Mulroney's closet, and one of them noticed that he had dozens, maybe hundreds of pairs of shoes in there. Ditto for his fashion plate wife. He never shook that image of the narcissistic rich man who had a pair of expensive shoes for every day of the year. Shoes can have powerful symbolic political importance. Imelda Marcos comes to mind as well.

73. Shoes for Imelda
Imelda Marcos comes to mind as well.

One of the funniest stunts Johnny Carson ever pulled was after Imelda fled to Hawaii. Johnny went out in the audience with a box, asking the women in the audience to donate "shoes for Imelda". When Carson died, I was disappointed that this clip was never shown during all the bio coverage.

look at the giggling murder monkey. When was the last time he was ever in a crowd of people that wasn't positively controlled in every way? Do you think he'll ever be able to go anywhere, even after his failed presidency, without security guards encircling him? He'll never be able to just stroll down a sidewalk again.

Bill Clinton does it all the time. Why? In spite of everything the right wing muckrakers threw at him, he's till one of the most admired and loved Presidents, EVER! And he's not a scared little momma's boy like georgie porgy. bush is a scared little pseudo-cowboy that's never had to fight for anything in his life. He's had everything handed to him on a silver platter, including the Presidency. He'll have to stay sealed in his bubble for the rest of his life. Bubble-boy-bush!

70. Nah, it's a little short on the 'justice' part...
For my money, poetic justice would be about 100 people from the Admin all in one big jail cell together for the next 10 years or so.

Oh, and the cell would also be stocked with about 30 of the very largest, horniest men all of various 'minority' races. And the bushies live their whole 10 years, always unsure whether perhaps some or all are HIV+ to boot.

And the 30 aren't real big into condoms. Or Lube...

Oh, and did I mention, no court, lawyers, charges, or anything like that. And they're in Egypt. Maybe throw in some occasional rough interrogations, just for fun.

That would be ALMOST 'justice', AFAIC.

You feel me at all?

47. Frist is running interference for Santorum
That is really who they will pick for '08. Frist is out there distracting people while Santorum seems to show up everywhere that matters, quietly building face and name recognition, playing it low key, staying away from most issues, just being his pretty, presidential looking self.

They know Frist doesnt have the backbone to maintain any real hope for the nomination, so they'll let him play the far right man and then trot out Santorum when it counts, portrayed as the more moderate of the two.

79. Victor Ash, mayor of Knoxville, Tenn.
I don't know how much of this has been verified, but at least the quote from whitehouse.gov is true...

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/02/20010221-5.html

"I'm also most appreciative of the Mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee for being here. I've know Mayor Ashe for years and years and years. And he has done a fabulous job of being a fine public servant in Knoxville. So, Victor, thank you for coming."

http://mindprod.com/bush.html

http://www.talkaboutgovernment.com/group/alt.politics.bush/messages/2442275.html

"Victor Ash, Mayor of Knoxville, and Bush's ex "roommate", still goes
often for sleep-overs in Crawford. Bush has gone off on trips
together with him without Laura.

Ash was introduced at a gay rally in San Francisco as Knoxville's Gay Mayor."

72. But the real question is... who's more likely to have a same sex affair?
I live in Washington, where the big news is the Republican mayor of Spokane's homosexual affairs. I think there's actually a lot of Republicans who have hammered through this massive party agenda simply because they haven't figured out how to deal with their own personal sexuality. My advice: please leave the rest of the nation out of it. It's not our problem.

Anyway, has anyone mentioned how much Allen-Edmonds cost? That's the first thing that stuck out to me. Oh well. The parking ticket is just a screamer. So classic. There's been sooooo many of these things, it's simply amazing everyone's still in love with the GOP. (and no, I don't mean that way...)

56. Frist is a murdering pig.
He murdered cats as a young intern. What a pig. I think that Frist is committing political suicide. The tide is turning against these rabid right-wing nuts. I'd love to see him run for President. Hopefully, even our neutered media would tear him apart.

81. Bush's plan cuts guaranteed benefits by definition
If it reduces the money paid into the guaranteed benefits system from 12.4% to 8%, then it necessarily reduces guaranteed benefits. Of course, Bush and company will say that it can increase benefits if that 4.4% does more work in the long term than it would have done in the benefits system, but they cannot - legally - say more than it can or may, since returns on the 4.4% CANNOT be guaranteed.

So, the Bush plan (or at least the Man-on-Dog Santorum version that Man-on-Dog himself was peddling so unsuccessfully in PA ABSOLUTELY DOES REDUCE GUARANTEED BENEFITS. This half-assed staffer is trying to play a semantics game on the press by leaving out the "guaranteed" in "guaranteed benefits," and - of course - assuming the rosiest scenario for the COMPLETELY CONTINGENT return on the 4.4%, which you may lose some or all of.

65. Poor poor Sen. Hello Kitty
When a wingnut jackoff like Frist can't even buy a pair of shoes without getting harassed by the hoi polloi, what's this country coming to?

68. "...despite the protesters' claims"
That entire statement is an insult. How do these people sleep at night?

But good work people! Wouldn't be great if non of these asshole could do anything in public without this sort of showing?

Like anti-celebs.

71. That's great!
The more bad publicity there is on the bastard, the better. It will eat away at the "good name" of the republican party. The ultimate justice.

I'm happy to see anything that pushes that party of evil closer to complete suicide.

77. Now taking bets!
It's a suckers bet so you wouldn't want to wager it. But how much do you wanna bet that Frist does not pay that ticket? There are other forms of "Social Security." Like the Republicans "Socialist Security." That is where the Peoples Business becomes a Private Matter. The closed corporate doors behind which they stick it to the people. Then declare bankruptcy and move on to the next group of suckers. Will he weild Senate immunity?

80. A little off topic, but speaking of parking tickets.....
remember J.C. Watts? He was a repuke rep from Oklahoma who was articulate and always seemed to be soft spoken and humble when speaking in public.
Well, a short time after 9/11 he parked illegally in front of the Oklahoma City airport entrance and left the car to go inside.
When he returned a cop had just written him a ticket for double-parking and leaving the car unattended.
He angrily asked the cop if he knew who he (Watts) was while tearing the ticket up and stuffing it behind the cop's badge.
Sounds perfectly and arrogantly Republican, huh?
