McCain endorses Schwarzenegger
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 03:10 PM by onehandle
SAN DIEGO - Allegations that Arnold Schwarzenegger groped women didn't stop Arizona Sen. John McCain from issuing an endorsement of Schwarzenegger's candidacy Thursday.

Something happened to McCain last year. I think PNAC got to him, or something. Regardless, now he can be hated by both the right, and the left. John won't have any friends left soon, and I'll bet he retires at the end of this term.

27. My opinion of McCain tumbles lower and lower everytime he opens his mouth
First, he ends up supporting * after the disgusting smear campaign *'s boys ran against him in the 2000 primary in South Carolina.

Then he comes across like an abrasive warmonger (probably w/ little effort on his part) during the debates over the Iraq resolution. I found his condescending rhetoric towards Byrd particularly disgusting.

Now he's endorsing the Grope-inator for Governor.

If the first idiotic behavior he exhibited was just him being a good party man, and the second was just him acting upon principles, can there be ANY justification for him throwing his support behind that idiot blowhard "Ahh-nuld"? McCain doesn't even live in Cal-i-for-ni-a, durnit! He had no obligation to throw his support behind the-Sex-Fiend-Who-Would-be-Governor, so apparently his admiration for this idiot is just straight from his heart. How precious...

29. I think this has got a lot to do with...
... the fact that Pete Wilson is running his campaign. McCain sees _him_ as the political brains behind Schwarzenegger, and most of the Repugs loved Wilson, whose policies, I recall, were to cut essentials to the bone, and with regard to taxes, favor businesses over individuals. Classic fiscal arch-conservative, sort of like McCain.

Cheers.

33. Last nail in the coffin
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 06:18 PM by Boomer
My former regard for McCain has been steadily deteriorating over the course of the last two years. This pretty much ends even the whisper of respect that I still held for him. Obviously his ethics are restricted to a very narrow window about campaign finance and don't encompass other more general areas of human behavior.

49. I'll probably get slapped for this but McCain doesn't respect women
either.

Remember, he was in the can in Nam for years and the wife selflessly raised very good kids alone. He comes home, she gets hurt and basically loses her looks -to HIM, not me- and he has an affair on the side with current wife.

She is rich, attractive and so he comes to the wife and divorces her, the one who was steadfast all the years he was in the klink. He goes and has this bigger life- the one he knew he wouldn't have as easily without rich wife and her important political family- so he dumps this woman who spent and may still spend time walking on crutches. During the campaign for prez, she held her tongue and didn't tell everyone what a total dick he was because she loves her children more than she must hate him.

He's a classless ass hole in my opinion because on the most basic level, to the one who should matter the most he failed for his own selfish reasons. He cheated on his wife. What is it to him backing
a squeeze box like Arnold?

He's been a dick for a very, very long time, my friends. A long, long, long, long time. His first wife is a good woman who deserved better. God bless her.
