Ex-Fla. Dem Chief to Run for Governor
Ex-Fla. Dem Chief to Run for Governor

Monday May 16, 2005 8:46 PM

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Scott Maddox, former chairman of Florida's Democratic Party, entered the race Monday to succeed Republican Gov. Jeb Bush.

Maddox, 37, said he is intent on ``reining in insurance companies, loosening the grip of powerful corporate lobbyists and keeping government from extending its reach into our homes and hospital rooms.''

Maddox served as Tallahassee mayor before taking over the party two years ago. He stepped down earlier this month after a dismal election in November, when Florida's Democrats failed to deliver the state for John Kerry and lost a Senate rate.

Bush is barred by term limits from running for a third term.

1. I don't think he'll win as long as Diebold counts the votes
Period.

6. That's Exactly Right!
Without VIVA and its companion bills, no Democrat stands a chance at becoming Guv, whether Glenda remains AG or not:

5. Especially when there are plenty of Floridians who
firmly believe that Kerry and Caster did receive the most votes. Or at least had more people show up at the polls intending to vote for them. Florida may not have been as visible as Ohio in 2004, but we were certainly no cleaner.

7. Glenda For Prezzzzzzzzz!
You are so right. The scam was different from Ohio and different from Florida in 2000 but no cleaner. We should return to the penal colony which we were before becoming a state. That's how we treat our minority and Democratic voters!

3. He's a boob
He's from the DC beltway school of Cowardly Consultant politics practiced by the likes of Bob Shrum and Terry McAuliffe.
