RNC Raises Just Over $10 Million in April
The Republican National Committee collected just over $10 million last month as it prepares for the next round of elections.

The GOP committee took in nearly $43 million in the first four months of the year, record fundraising for a year with no presidential election, the RNC said Thursday.

Of that amount, the RNC had roughly $30 million on hand as May began.

The fundraising continued this week with the RNC's annual gala. The Tuesday night event headlined by President Bush raised $15 million.

1. Are you trying to cheer me up or something?
O.K., sarcasm off now.

I'm trying not to get depressed, actually.

Well, we have just shown that progressives can successfully mount a fundraising drive (here at DU).

So, what's our next project?

2. only your wallet should be afraid...
/sarcasm off...

I think the point is to inspire you to give and give as much as you can. We've just got to stop moping and start digging in. 2004 is soooo over. 2006 is where we can begin the turn around by winning the congress back.

3. RNC: $26 million — DNC: $7 million
"The gala adds to the RNC's fundraising advantage over its Democratic counterpart. As of April, the most recent figures available, the RNC had $26 million on hand; the Democratic National Committee had about $7 million."

4. They get massive amounts of corporate money
We'll have to win it with better ideas and good, hard volunteerism.

We won't out-whore them, that's for sure.

12. Seems like a pretty hacky opinion piece to me

Despite all the stupid stereotypes, Republicans are not and never have been the "party of the rich." They are, indeed, far less dependent on the rich than Democrats are. The average Republican campaign donation is about $50. Most of their funds come from middle class voters and small businesses, who are quite capable of ponying up a hundred or two bucks, or as much as a thousand or two, for a candidate they believe in.

No mention of Bush Pioneers and Rangers? How convenient.

By the way, I have personal message to my Democrat pals: as a former loyal Democrat, I plan to send money to Bush's re-election campaign. I'll be cackling with glee as I write the check, too. Because I'll be thinking of you as I write it.

Also doesn't sound like a Democrat.

You better be careful posting stuff like this or (with the low post count) people might take you for a trolling freeper.

5. Republican fascists are intent in seeing that the Bush/PNAC dictatorship
continues to destroy America with it's corrupt, democracy destroying extreme fascism.

6. I signed up as a grassroots supporter or whatever it's called
I send them a monthly stipend via credit card and they promise not to call me for a handout every week.:-)I suggest everyone sign up for it and send a little bit from every paycheck. It's that important, 10 bucks on a regular basis from everyone will blow away the RNC pukes.

7. The truth is that investing in the RNC is a better investment than the DNC
Edited on Thu May-19-05 02:35 PM by Democat
How much money have you invested with the Democrats recently and what have you got back for your investment? A bunch of cowardly losers giving away everything that those who came before them worked for.

Think of the return right wingers have seen on their investment. They control the country, their leaders fight the left all of the time, and once they are in power, they actually try to force their issues into policy.

I can't imagine that many Americans who invested in the Democratic Party during 2004 election are going to be ready to invest again anytime soon.

8. It's not coming from the Mom and Pop republicans..
I guarantee that. It's from a handful of people, and corporations.. the real republicans are beginning to tire of the RNC. I feel the winds of change...

9. Campaign finance reform.
Public funding of campaigns w/spending ceilings are the answer, but so long as corporations OWN the government, fat chance.

Revolution seems more needed every day.

15. No matter how much money RNC has, when we the poeple had enough
of this administration... people are going to vote them out!
Look at Wall Mart (trying to build more) and BioTech (Legalizing GMO) company who spent millions, millions dollars into California, however, they both went down!!! People didn't want it and they didn't listen their bull-shits of advertisiments!
