There is no truth to reports the West is offering Iran generous incentives to shut down its nuclear program, Tehran's U.N. ambassador said on Thursday, dismissing offers he had seen as "demeaning."
"Don't believe reports that Iran has been given generous offers," Ambassador Javad Zarif told nuclear activists at U.N. headquarters.
The sole firm inducement he was aware of to date, he said, was a U.S. offer to make available Boeing Corp. spare parts for Iran's aging commercial airline fleet, much of which predates the 1979 Islamic revolution.

"Iran is not a backward country. We have everything. We buy everything. We pay more for it. This is a fact of life," he said.
