Largest Progressive Gathering Since Election Aims To 'Take Back America'
Edited on Thu May-26-05 03:09 PM by Dover
JUNE 1 - 3

The Campaign for America's Future today released details about major events scheduled for the organization's 2005 "Take Back America" conference next week. The gathering will bring together the largest group of progressive leaders since last year's elections to discuss the ideas and infrastructure needed to forge a political majority. The conference will feature major presentations and training workshops for grassroots activists at the Washington Hilton from Wednesday, June 1 to Friday, June 3.

Participants include Democratic National Committee chair Howard Dean, former presidential candidate John Edwards, Los Angeles Mayor-elect Antonio Villaraigosa, Reverends Jesse Jackson Sr. and Jim Wallis, Democratic pollsters Stanley Greenberg and Celinda Lake, EMILY's List president Ellen R. Malcolm, NOW president Kim Gandy, strategist Donna Brazile, nationally syndicated columnist Arianna Huffington, journalist Bill Moyers and economist Jeffrey Sachs.

1. I wanna go!!!!
Wow! Wouldn't that be an incredible experience!

How many DUers are planning to be there??

We need the entire population of the DU 2004 Election Forum present and accounted for (except Andy is still in the hospital :cry: ) , and raising hell about the last 3 stolen elections, and BBV.

:kick::kick::kick:

6. Anyone living near DC and thinking about going -- do it!!
I went to the National Media Reform Conference earlier this month so I can't go.

It's a great experience to gather with thousands of other progressive activists and learn strategies and nuts and bolts things you can do to make America better and fight the neocon agenda.

Great networking, inspirational talks, good people.

7. I wish I could go, too, but I can't make such a trip with my workload here

and DAMMIT, I wish they wouldn't waste a NANOSECOND on the worthless Donna Brazile. All she'll do is explain how best to capitulate and exercise bad judgment. Oh yes, and how to BE NICE. And don't forget her exclusive lecture in fighting fire with dandelion fluff. Maybe they could get Mary Beth Cahill to team up with her.

12. Lineup is great except
I am not too keen on Jesse Jackson after the Terry Schiavo stuff and wonder how he can even explain his media mongering in that event and I've not seen Donna Brazile "strategize" anything sucessfully.

13. I think they need a traveling roadshow for 2006
Washington's great, but it can be a little pricey for those of us in the Midwest and pretty much out of the question for the Left Coast.
