‘US troops in Afghanistan desecrated Quran’

BAJAUR:
A former Guantanamo Bay prisoner released here on Saturday said the US troops desecrated the Holy Quran in detention centres in Afghanistan.

Badshah Khan, who spent four years at the Guantanamo Bay detention centre, told Daily Times that he went to Afghanistan for employment but was arrested by the Northern Alliance which after keeping him in prison for four months, handed him over to the US troops.

Mr Khan said that he was shifted to a detention centre in Kandahar where he was kept in a small room. “The US troops stripped me naked and took photos of my body. They also tore up a copy of the Holy Quran,” he said. (staff report)

5. Yes, Newsweek's fault...
It's unbelievable that Newsweek was ever blamed at all, for anything. General Myers, General Eichenberry and Hamid Karzai ALL said that the Afghanistan riots were NOT caused by Newsweek. The riots weren't even about the Koran.

Also, it is only when the press brings these abuses to light that there is public pressure to make a change. "Sunlight is the best disinfectant."

There is more and more proof every day that prisoners at Guantanamo faced serious mental and physical torture at Guantanamo. There have been many successful suicides and suicide attempts.

What does America stand for these days?
