McClintock Calls on Schwarzenegger to Resign If Charges Prove True
State Senator Tom McClintock called on Arnold Schwarzenegger to withdraw from the race for governor if allegations of improper sexual advances prove to be true.

Asked by reporters what he would tell Schwarzenegger, McClintock said, "If those allegations are true, you should drop out of the race."

1. Good
At least he's not rallying behind Arnie....of course he wants to win.

Seriously though, the GOP was stupid for endorsing Arnold, they were/are desparate.

3. Good for him
At least with McClintock as governor you know what you'll be getting. He's a good honest man, though totally wrong on the issues.

13. exactly
While I disagree strongly with most of his views he is at least respectable. I would rather trust him with the fifth largest economy in the world than the Groper.

4. He is right.
Arnold said that these stories were just
youthful wildness. It turns out he is a
possible serial sexual batterer. That is
much more than a wild life.

6. "Youthful wildness"...
at age 53 (Most recent allegation that's come to light so far is from 2000)? Republicans must grow up a lot slower than everyone else (viz. G.W. Bush writing off everything he did up to age 40 as "youthful indiscretions").

10. Arnold quote
"Everything I have ever done in my life has always stayed. I've just added to it...But I will not change. Because when you are successful and you change, you are an idiot."

Hmmm....so he hasn't really changed, has he?

17. Interesting choice of words.
A.S. revealed on Letterman years ago that the German translation of his name is "black-plowman." So one would assume that he's intent on plowing some black days into California's future.

8. Arnie drops out, McClintock wins.
Which, even though he's far more conservative than Arnold, would actually be a good thing. I've heard quite a few of his ideas, and, even if he's wrong on some issues (not the economic ones), he seems respectable.

12. McClintock is a true believer
and has a reputation for never compromising and never backing down on his principles, etc. If a gun were put to my head to choose between the two, I suppose I'd go McClintock, despite Schwarzenegger's mostly liberal positions, because I don't believe the slimy bastard. The guy is just creepy.

crazy people to the front - I don't believe Arnold will win but I won't be surprised if he does.

I think all the Arnold hype has been paid for by the rupublian party.

16. I agree with your statement
McClintock is WRONG on all the issues that matter to me, but I would not fear for my physical safety if I were in the same room with him the way I would with Arnold.

19. Would McClintock
sign over 9 billion lawsuit dollars to Enron? Probably no way. That is how you divide the Bush mob from other conservatives.

21. Has he actually stated this?
He's so conservative, in the old way, but don't forget that even "back then," the repugs were always in bed with big business.

25. I would NEVER vote for....
McClintock...believe me, he has NO interest in helping CA workers, in any way.

Like Schwarzenegger...he will allow expansion of oil drilling in the Central California Coastal Channel. Difference...Schwarzenegger will lie about allowing it to happen, up until the day they start drilling...and McClintock will try to sell it, from day one.

27. Exactly.. I don't agree with any of his views, but...
at least you know what the hell they are!

I have told others that I at least can have some respect for his openness.. which is rare in politics these days.

20. See.....McClintock is a true principled conservative!!!!
See....The Rethugliklan establishment does not have principle and wants to win at any and all costs including supporting a
"skirt chasing, Hitler Praising" POS!!!

:eyes:

If McClintock were just an opportunistic Reich Winger like Bill Simon he would have ignored these allegations!

22. Conservatives are losing out.
I do think it's interesting that the right initiated the recall, and even if it passes, will get someone antagonistic to their ideology in office. Some will dispute this assessment, I understand. Schwarzenegger, for all his bravado, would be highly amenable to pressure from various quarters. He loves making people "happy," not pissing people off. I think, though, he'd have no problem pissing off the rightists by supporting Wilsonite primary opponents to rightist legislators.

23. and when Arnold doesn't his supporters go... See... he must be innocent
or he would have resigned :eyes: It's called denial.

If Arnold is elected there will be multiple incidents in the statehouse. You just don't turn off this behavior overnight - or he would have between his last contemplation of run for office and now. He didnt.. probably because he can't. Its compulsive and ingrained.

So the state will go through some embarassing times that make the whole circus around Clinton pale by example.

24. GOP Party???
I have a total different take on this sexual thing....I don't think the Davis camp outed it.....
I think the McClintock camp did..reason being..he was and still is way behind arnold....and the GOP hasn't been pushing him very hard to back out....
this may just be a big plan to get Tom in...without looking like the republican party is really that divided....
they gave arnie a chance to show himself..hoping the voters wouldn't approve ..now they had to fall back on the sexual advances issue...in hopes that people would vore for Tom
I may be way off...but I think it came directly from the GOP party...
