Chris Matthews to interview Democratic presidential candidates
Edwards, Kerry to play 'Hardball'

NEW YORK -- MSNBC politico pundit Chris Matthews will conduct a series of live, hourlong interviews with Democratic 2004 presidential candidates beginning Oct. 13.
"Hardball: Battle for the White House" will be telecast from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard U. in Cambridge, Mass.

The one-on-one candidate forums will air each Monday at 7 p.m. ET. Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.) is the first guest, followed by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), the Rev. Al Sharpton, Rep. Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.), Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) and former U.S. senator ambassador to New Zealand Carol Moseley Braun.

2. Given his behavior of late don't expect it to be flattering...
I wish he stuck to his “This Week With Chris Matthews” format, it’s much better than Hardball. The “Crossfire” format that Hardball apes only works properly when you have an opposing host- even Fox plays lip service to the concept with Hannity & Combes.

5. I wouldn't worry yet

These are once a week interviews on Mondays. We just got to see the first 6 scheduled. It doesn't mean that the others aren't going to be appearing after that--just that the writer of the piece didn't feel the need to tell the entire sequence.

8. The front runners.
They don't need this jabberturd show with its .3 share. This publicity is not good.

6. Hope!
I hope that if he tries any of his bush brownnosing they hand his head to him. All of the candidates are capable of doing that. I'd love to see the first 2 or 3 embarass tweety to the point that he comes up with a bushit reason to discontinue the series and we can paint him as the coward he is!

I swear! Matthews acts like a pre-teen who has a crush on thire teen beet idol when it comes to Bush..I think he realy wants nothing more than to plant a big sloppy french kiss on bush the way he talks about him..I expect Matthews to act nothing more than hostile to the dem pres hopefulls but giving Lieberman a pass..naturly

9. Great...Tweety To Entrap...And Luntz...
...to tell you what you just saw with another rigged "focus group"...the overall message "These guys are losers...these guys are losers". This way Tweety keeps his "power" and "access", Luntz continues his masquerade of a "man with the pulse on America" and knuckledraggers tune in. Not a bad sham.

BTW...I'm still not clear on Tweety's role in the Wilson affair other than he and Rove were probably having phone sex.

12. He Assasinated KUCINICH Before
Tweezer was indredibly vicious, the same as when he performed the public execution of DONAHUE. KERRY and DEAN can handle him. Actually they all can handle the punk.

18. I watch him and here's my defense of Chris Matthews.
He is a loose cannon, albeit a self-proclaimed Bush supporter. If he never hung Republicans out to dry or embarrassed them, I would agree that he is nothing but a right-wing hack.

However, I witnessed Matthews grill Ed Gillespie and ask him the best question I have yet too hear, "Will the president duck debating the Democratic nominee next year?" And when Gillespie tried to duck the question, Matthews just started hammering away at him.

His behavior about the whole recall thing has been nothing short of shameful, but get him on the topic of the Iraq war and he consistently burns the Republicans, flight suit episode excluded.

17. A smart candidate would pass
on this opportunity. Or at bare minimum insist that Tweety come to him (her in CMB's case) campaign and simultaneiously videotape. The guy is a right wing shill.

19. Not sure if anyone noticed…
And maybe he has said it before, but last week, it seemed he was “outing” himself on the sly.

He indicated to his guest that he is much more conservative than most are aware of and has voted republican a great deal….then he looked squarely into the camera and smirked.
It came as no surprise, but I had never before actually heard him admit it.
