Charges dropped against 21 involved in Statehouse protest (I-69)
Indianapolis, June 9 - A judge dropped charges against 21 people involved in a weekend protest at the Indiana Statehouse. But three people remain accused.

Police arrested them during a protest by people opposed to the I-69 construction project through southwest Indiana. <snip>

The three still accused face charges including battery, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.

Marie Mason with Earth First Movement, one of the protest organizers, was in court to support the people there. "I guess since that's not something that we did or endorse in any way, we don't condone it, we don't condemn it. We do understand some people have some very strong feelings about this project." <snip>

1. Typical Police Bullshit
Disrupt the protest then drop the charges. The department should be sued and the officers fired.

2. I am all for protesting the ruining of good farmland to build a new
route for I-69, especially when existing roads can be widened and used for less cost with only a few minutes added to the total drive time in comparison to the new route. Perhaps some protesters did go a little overboard in spray painting the statehouse, but guess what? They made the national news, something several hundred (or in some cases, several thousand) well behaved protesters can't do.
