Poll: Bush Job Approval Dips to New Low
WASHINGTON - As the war in Iraq drags on, President Bush's job approval and the public's confidence in the direction he's taking the nation are at their lowest levels since The Associated Press-Ipsos poll began in December 2003.

About one-third of adults, 35 percent, said they think the country is headed in the right direction, while 43 percent said they approve of the job being done by Bush. Just 41 percent say they support his handling of the war, also a low-water mark.

<snip>

The poll conducted for AP by Ipsos found 45 percent support Bush's foreign policy, down from 52 percent in March.

<snip>

Support for Bush's handling of domestic issues remained in the high 30s and low 40s in the latest AP-Ipsos poll.

3. "Presidents who are low in the polls have a hard time
getting Congress to go along with them," said Charles Franklin, a political scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. "He has to persuade the people in Congress to follow his legislative agenda and they're all worried about 2006."

It would be great finding a BIG way to tell them all we'll be watching every damned move they make on the way to 2006, too. If they want to save themselves they should start bailing soon!

There ought to be some qualifiers to these polls such as "Could you point out the U.S.A. on a globe?"

27. I mean that things have not changed since November.
The war is about the same (maybe more quagmired, but essentially the same); the economy is no worse (just as bad as it has ever been); Bush is no stupider (how could that be possible?); everything was just as bad last November as it is today - it may have gotten worse, but how can you tell when we have been in the shitter for four years? Yet, now, for some reason, nearly 60% across the board disapprove of his job performance? This just points up how corrupt the November results were. He has had job approvals in the mid-40s since January - how could this man have "won" last November? Ratings like this can turn around, but not without some downturn or "big" event that causes people to turn - he had low 40s in November, too, yet "won" - right...

Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 05:45 PM by Mark E. Smith
... that the reason Bush's numbers are still in the 40s (rather than the 30s where they should be), is that the election was not all that long ago, and many Bush voters can't quite admit yet that they were taken for suckers.

But it will happen. The Little President's stench is becoming too obvious to ignore.

David Fultz, a Republican from Venice, Fla., is among those who are sticking with the president.

"In terms of where we're going in the future, President Bush is laying out a plan," said Fultz, an assistant principal at a middle school. "When it's all said and done, we'll be where we want to be. We need to help establish democracy in the Middle East."

stole the first election. His plan is to rape, pillage, and plunder the federal goverment and violate the rights of every man, woman, and child in this country while lining the pockets of his family and friends. Comparable to what he did to the state of Texas. The man leaves a trail of destruction and ooze everywhere he goes.

24. Pigshits like this make up your 43% -

Cracker Barrel-eating sow.

The reason these poll numbers are as high as they are is because Dumberica (My state of Ohio in particular) is being held hostage by a bunch of uneducated reactionary dumbshits like the asshole pictured above that refuse to believe they're wrong about anything. Believing everything Daddies Rove and Murdoch excrete into them, it's all about a hatred of SOMEthing - liberals, homosexuals, foreign peoples, unions, this fictional "liberal media" they scream of, atheists, trial lawyers, etc.

Until we get a brilliant political strategist on our side to convince the centrists, demand election reform (starting with NO over-partisan politicians supervising elections), have richer progressives create a news network and stop being saddled with Republican fluffers like Biden and Leiberman, elections will never be landslides and we'll always come up short because of vote fixers.

57. Poll: Bush Job Approval Dips to New Low
By WILL LESTER, Associated Press Writer
Sat Jun 11,10:15 AM ET

WASHINGTON - When it comes to public approval, President Bush and Congress are playing "how low can you go." Bush's approval mark is 43 percent, while Congress checks in at 31 percent, an Associated Press-Ipsos poll found. Both are the lowest levels yet for the survey, started in December 2003.

"There's a bad mood in the country, people are out of sorts," said Charles Jones, a presidential scholar and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. "Iraq news is daily bad news."

60. It's getting to the point where...
...not even MIHOP will be able to save these losers.

Still I'm feeling pretty uneasy. There's nothing I wouldn't put past these bastards.

63. How does this compare historically?
Has any other president ever had such a low rating? If so, who and when?

Does anyone know? I'm working right now, so can't take time to search.

76. But Carter did not invade a country without reason
and kill our kids in doing so. That's a biggie.

79. Truman was mired in Korea,
Carter was mired in the Iranian hostage crisis.

I would say there was no reason to be in Korea, but we finagled it into a UN action because Russia was absent from the Security Council meeting which decided to have the war.

If I remember correctly.

65. New Low?
Seems to me I keep reading week after week, reports of him being at a new low of 43%. What gives, is someone cooking the poll books?

66. Different polls probably.
Half the polls you've already read are probably in the 30's, so they can't be published, because that can't possibly be right.

Since 43% is in the neighborhood of the number of people who ACTUALLY voted for him, they'll find a poll to match.

69. I wonder if this is one of those "serious issues"
that Tracey Schmitt wants to "talk about"?

Democrats have no vision and would rather pander to the maniacal fringe than talk about the important issues facing our country," Tracey Schmitt said.

71. In comparison:
As opposed to the (record) 65% approval rating President Clinton had when he left office (and he did it without a 9/11 to boost his poll numbers!).

Oops, sorry all you lurking right-wingers - I know you hate being reminded how popular President Clinton was compared to Bushy. *eg*

I wonder if they're finally going to capture Zarqawi soon? Or maybe he'll make another miraculous escape?

72. Hmm. Then I'd say it's ACTUALLY around 35-36 percent.
Which is close to his "solid" RW fundie base.

73. " 'The Focus Groups'" have gotten much larger.
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 12:09 AM by Pithy Cherub
Free Speech Zones are now constructed for the pResident to avoid whole states. "Mr. President wouldn't advise that speech in California...I understand you think you can get in because the protestors are focused on Arnold - but, sir they have backups... About New York, wouldn't be prudent. Illinois is, well sir, completely unavailable. Michigan, about GM sir. And if you say the word private accounts or pension sir,... Let's try talking about the moon sir, it soooo didn't work for us before, but we can sell it there...You have to be very brief sir. The Chinese and the Nigerians now have space programs targeting the moon and technically those countries are entitled to tell you sir, "bite me." There is an American on the space station that might like you but we will confirm on space mail in 6 weeks...It has to go to the Russians first..."

Nowhere to run....Nowhere to:hide:

75. Bush only will speak to the choir
and, yes, the choir is shrinking. He's afraid to speak to the American public because of his disapproval rating. Mr. Bush is a joke as a president.

78. The real news here is that 43% of us "Mericans" are so
fucking stupid that we APPROVE of *. We deserve what we got and are getting and will get in the future!

Talk to a co-worker, friend, relative how can they still support this war criminal?

When the end comes and the neo-cons are gone from power the question becomes "Will we forget who supported them?" I say no and now can start to understand the purges in the old USSR. That's not to say I approve of them or want that type of thing to happen in the US but I say to my fellow citizens.....beware neo-cons and the stupid followers of neo-cons, the end is near and stupidity will not be an excuse.

Just a pleasant Sunday morning thought.
