Thieves Steal Priceless Carpets From Ancient Afghan Mosque
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGB62U77Z9E.html

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Three large carpets were stolen from an ancient Afghan mosque by thieves who came in the middle of the night and replaced them with cheap imitations, a local police chief said Wednesday.

The carpets, each made in the early 1900s specifically for the centuries-old Khawaja Abu Nasr Parsa mosque in northern Balkh province, were spirited away late Monday, said police chief Mir Hamza. Each of the carpets was about 30-feet long and richly woven in a deep red.

"It is the first time anything has ever been stolen from the mosque," said Hamza. "The first time we have seen looting in God's house. This is a very sad time for the people of Balkh."

The mosque is believed to be one of the oldest in Afghanistan, though its exact age is not entirely clear. It is a popular attraction for Afghan travelers and even some foreigners.

3. over here, theft is due to joblessness
Edited on Wed Jun-15-05 04:33 AM by oscar111
dont know about motives over there, but here we have 14 million job shortage.. causing 12 million to go hungry..

so we will be up to our ears in crime till we have jobs for all. See sig.

similar thefts here are theft of gold candlsticks from altars of churches. And theft of poorboxes.. which accept coins when no priest is holding services and no one is in church but the thief.

No one is safe from burglars either..

till we have jobs for all.

No one is safe till all are safe.

if all were safe worldwide, that just might end war.
