Nine coalition troops killed in Iraq:-
BAGHDAD | June 18, 2005 7:11:26 PM IST

Nine troops from the U.S.-led multinational forces were killed Saturday in a mortar attack in the troubled city of Fallujah west of the capital.

Coalition officials said in a statement that six soldiers also were injured in the attack in Fallujah, 30 miles (50 kilometers) west of Baghdad, but did not identify the nationalities of the casualties.

Meanwhile, Iraqi police officials said three mortar rounds fell near the Babel Hotel in the center of the capital where American military and civilian elements reside, as well as Iraqi officials.

They did not report any casualties in the attack.

The police also said that overnight fighting and early Saturday killed ten people, including a woman, and around 12 were injured in separate armed attacks and car bombings in different parts of the country.

The casualties included Iraqi civilians, troops and policemen.

The interior and defense ministries said their forces have arrested suspected terrorists in the past two days, seized large amounts of weapons and defused bombs as part of Operation Lightning launched two weeks ago.

He blew up frogs with firecrackers as a kid. Most parents would get that type of kid some help. Bet Barbara thought it was "boys will be boys." Now he's bowing up people and loving it. Incredibly SICK!

7. Washington Times is also reporting this story
United Press International is owned by the the same Cult (moonies) that owns the Washington Times, which -- as you know -- is a right wing newspaper. I like how they conceal the nationalities of those troops. Pretty lame.

STOP STOP STOP

and does the nationality even matter? They're just as dead - and somewhere, someone is going to be left with a hole in their lives because of it.

Sorry, wookie294. I really need to not post these posts, just do not handle it well at all. Guess I need to go get me an SUV and a yellow sticker and not worry my beautiful mind with the 'petty details'.

11. Yes the nationality does matter
Nobody in the US political class gives a shit about non-US fatalities in Iraq. It's only the US body count that matters. There is a very uncomfortable corollary to this.

16. So why did we destroy Fallujah again?
I mean we went in there and turned that place into a dust heap to get these insurgents out, then said what a great job we did there. Now this, so what did we do exactly? We killed a bunch of buildings, livestock, pet dogs and people and did not bring any kind of peace. At one time they did not allow cars in the city because of potential car bombs. They at one time were talking of making ID badges for every resident of the city so they would know if they lived there, or if they were enemy combatants. They had supposedly cleared the city of munitions and such after the operation there, or so we were led to believe. Now they have a mortar attack. Did somebody hide the thing under their shirt? Are they setting up out side of town and firing into the town? Did they hit anything else, or do they have the co-ordinates down so well that it suggest that a resident of Fallujah gave the co-ordiantes. So I have to ask again, why did we destroy that city?

19. After our use of napalm in Fallujah, I am unmoved by this bit of news
US lied to Britain over use of napalm in Iraq war
By Colin Brown, Deputy Political Editor
17 June 2005

American officials lied to British ministers over the use of "internationally reviled" napalm-type firebombs in Iraq.

Yesterday's disclosure led to calls by MPs for a full statement to the Commons and opened ministers to allegations that they held back the facts until after the general election.

Despite persistent rumours of injuries among Iraqis consistent with the use of incendiary weapons such as napalm, Adam Ingram, the Defence minister, assured Labour MPs in January that US forces had not used a new generation of incendiary weapons, codenamed MK77, in Iraq.

But Mr Ingram admitted to the Labour MP Harry Cohen in a private letter obtained by The Independent that he had inadvertently misled Parliament because he had been misinformed by the US. "The US confirmed to my officials that they had not used MK77s in Iraq at any time and this was the basis of my response to you," he told Mr Cohen. "I regret to say that I have since discovered that this is not the case and must now correct the position."

25. Sure...the grunts on the ground ordered the napalm, right?
Edited on Sat Jun-18-05 05:51 PM by tabasco
The use of napalm is ordered only by the theatre commander, a four-star general.

But it seems to have given you an excuse to revel in the death of privates.

20. any confirmation?
I can't seem to find any other references to back up this report.
Nothing from AP, Reuters, CNN etc.

Is there a cover-up in the media or is this story untrue?
