Rice says Sudan has credibility problem on Darfur
22 minutes ago

ABO SHOUK, Sudan (Reuters) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Thursday told Sudan's president his government had a "credibility problem" on the issue of Darfur and she wanted to see "actions not words."

In a meeting marred by scuffles involving Rice's aides and Sudanese security officials, Rice told President Omar Hassan al-Bashir to stop violence, especially against women, in the remote western region of his country.

"I said to the Sudanese government that they had a credibility problem with the international community I have said; actions not words,"' Rice said in a round of interviews with journalists at a Darfur refugee camp.

A senior U.S. official traveling with Rice said the secretary of state told Sudanese officials the situation in Darfur was getting in the way of improved relations.

9. The really interesting part of this is the "scuffle involving..aides"
It sounds like the Sudanese got physical with the Secretary of State's staff. They have absolutely no respect for the US and they know the US is too busy in Iraq to do anything about Darfur.

For all the (p)resident's rehtoric about fighting evil, Darfur is a glaring reminder that he is only interested in fighting evil if it will produce economic gains for his cabal (Halliburton, Carlisle, etc...)

If Rice and her staff we're tossed out the door (literally) they got the same kind of strong arm tactics they espouse, only in a more crude and direct fashion.

Serves her right.

16. Poor Li'l Miss Condi....
In a world filled with danger and unscrupulous leaders, credibility is hard to find. She should know.

I think in her eyes, "credibility" is something that would be nice to locate and strip-mine, maybe like innocence, trust, good-will and all those subjective things so hard to find.

She's looking because she'll be taking. It's just another asset.

17. Dear Condi,
I understand how you must feel about Sudan and their government's "credibility" issues. I do beleive though that the rest of this world we all live upon may have some "issues" with the US of A and this administration's credibility, ie, IRAQ!

18. Thankfully irony isn't lost on we progressives, but my gawd,
Can anyone here begin to explain why this alledgedly eruidite woman wasn't able to anticipate how the Sudanese government would react to a credibility lecture given by the likes of her.

And SHE TOLD THEM! Well, well, well. My word. Such tough talk from one whose stock and trade is fabrication. As I once heard someone say, the players in this neocon administration have finally evolved into caricatures of themselves. Have they no shame? At all?
