El Salvador asks U.S. help to ward off terrorism
SAN SALVADOR (Reuters) - El Salvador, worried that having troops in Iraq could make it a target for terror attacks, has asked the United States to help it ward off an attack in the country.

The only Latin American country supporting the U.S.-led war in Iraq with troops, El Salvador has had 380 soldiers there since mid-2003 and was the target of repeated threats last year from militant Islamic groups.

"I have asked the United States for support, given all the intelligence they have," said Saca after meeting Bush in Washington last week.

"The danger for the country and the whole world is enormous. In the face of terror we cannot give in and we cannot be afraid because terrorism seeks to generate fear," he added.

1. Finally, some people with sense
All I've heard is that the war in Iraq makes no country a target, because the terrorists will attack anyway. This war has increased the possibilty of terror attacks.

3. Did they discover oil in El Salvador?
Because unless they're suddenly sitting on a buttload of black gold, the Bush administration couldn't give a tin shit about El Salvador. Hasn't Bush's shabby treatment of Tony Blair shown the other "allies" just what they're worth?
