Offshore drilling vow may be tested

Democrats want Schwarzenegger to back them in key House vote.

By David Whitney -- Bee Washington Bureau
Published 2:15 a.m. PDT Monday, October 13, 2003

WASHINGTON -- Campaigning in Huntington Beach a day before the Oct. 7 recall election, Arnold Schwarzenegger proclaimed his opposition to offshore oil drilling.

"We have to make sure they don't drill off the coastlines of California," he said.

Democrats in the state's congressional delegation are hoping that the views of their Republican governor-elect will prove influential Wednesday when the House votes on a key offshore resources amendment.

But critics contend that the government routinely conducts such surveys, and what the administration has in mind is something far more intensive. They say the ultimate goal is to attack the longstanding congressional moratoria that for two decades have kept drilling rigs out of most offshore areas except the Alaskan Arctic and the Gulf of Mexico.

Oil baron Bushy the Terrible is at it again.

But this should come as no surprise since it's apparent that black gold flows through this cretin's veins.

I hope this character never suspects there's oil in those National Marine Wildlife Sanctuaries.

Think I'll be writing a couple letters tonight.

1. Don't forget Florida.
They didn't want offshore drilling either, and GWB wanted it. But, in consideration for brother Jeb, a fellow Republican, they didn't push it.

My guess is that now that there's a repub in charge in Cali, Bush won't push it there either.

3. Jebbie is Term limited and Bush is looking at 04 and needs
Florida.

BUT BUT BUT... The day after the election in 2004 one way or the other they no longer need Florida and they will be doing the offshore drilling.
