Don't take the propaganda route. You'll discover some day it leaves you wildly uninformed, and wandering in the dark.

The 1985 establishment of Radio Martí—a U.S. government-sponsored radio station, separate from the Voice of America, broadcasting into Cuba—further strained U.S.Cuba relations. Castro immediately suspended the immigration agreement, and announced that Cuban-Americans would no longer be allowed to visit Cuba. The United States responded by barring any Cubans from visiting the United States. There were other demonstrations of ill will on both sides, but in 1987 the two countries restored the immigration agreement, and met to discuss the war in Angola. (Castro's support for the Marxist government in Angola had been a thorn in the U.S.'s side for some time.)

Bush stole the pResidency. They visited their relatives. I have even read articles in the paper about their travels around the country, up north, and out west from Florida.
Non-Cuban people in south Florida have discussed Cubans coming for vacations and going home. They have visited Disneyworld, etc., etc., gone shopping, and returned home.
A man in a message group I have attended has discussed his Cuban friend, a professor who was invited to make a speech in South Florida at a university, after
Bush was selected, whose visa was cancelled mid-flight from Cuba. When he landed he was informed he was not going to stay. He spent the afternoon with the American and his wife, looking around, getting a bite to eat, and returning home, thanks to filthy right-wing politics.
Cuban professors teach in American universities. I've read of their spending a year or two at major colleges here, being very well attended.
What's more, Cuban "exiles," until
Bush seized power, and changed everything, used to go frequently to Cuba for vacations, to visit friends and relatives, etc., etc. Formally, they were allowed to visit once a year, but from what I've heard from Floridians, it was not seriously practised, as at one time no one seemed to bother them about it.
I also attended a message board which was swarmed by Cuban "exiles" from Florida, and one of the old bats freely discussed the fact her own sister had just come up and spent time with her in the State on a very enjoyable visit. Proud as punch to talk about her personal life, as if it were wildly important, herself typically haughty, as the old Battistiano ones usually are.
You're not going to sell that blarny to anyone who has taken the time to grow up and get over the propaganda. That only is credible to the most idiotic among us, and I'm sorry to say, I bought that crap for a long time, until I started seeing horrendous flaws in what I'd been told. There's no excuse now, what with the internet, to be dumb as a rock on this subject.
