Blair is a liar, say Muslim leaders

A RADICAL Islamic group urged more than 1,000 Muslims attending a conference 100 yards from the site of the July 7 bus bomb to join a global campaign to spread the word of Islam.

Speakers for the Hizb ut-Tahrir Party, which says that it is non-violent but is banned in several European countries, said that the crackdown on extremist activity would anger Muslims in Britain.

The group has condemned the suicide bombings in London and urged Muslims to be “decent citizens” under Islamic law and to co-operate with police investigations.

However, Tony Blair was accused of “lies, lies and damned lies” by Muslim leaders who claimed that he was silencing legitimate political expression while befriending Muslim dictators who oppress their people.

2. An interesting tidbit

Something that rarely gets coverage...One of the points of anger of muslims around the world at western governments is their support of the dictators that rule their countries.

I'm not on a 'they just want freedom' crack pipe, but it's part of their anger that the U.S. and the U.K support these governments and prop them up while they oppress the people and sell the oil only to keep the money for themselves.

There are well-manicured barbarians with their fingers on the buttons. Blair is but one example.

5. Deceptive headline (not the poster's fault). Hizb ut-Tahrir is the Muslim

version of the BNP or Ku Klux Klan.

It is grossly unfair to portray those rightwing, theocratic racists as representing Muslims.

Had "British law" been said, instead of "Islamic law", it would also be a rather different matter. Hence the need for context.
