Grass roots group for Hillary unveils TV ads

CONCORD, N.H. A grass roots group is unveiling a T-V campaign in New Hampshire in support of New York Senator Hillary Clinton for president.

Bob Kunst of the group, Hillary Now, hopes to lay the foundation for Clinton's possible bid for the presidency in 2008. Clinton says she is concentrating on her re-election to the Senate next year and has not openly declared ambitions for the presidency, though she is mentioned as a contender.

The animated commercial shows Clinton driving a garbage truck labeled "Bush's Mess." Clinton empties trash cans labeled Iraq, war on terror, health care and budget while a giggling President Bush hides on the White House lawn.

2. Hillary Clinton? Not interested!
Another phony DLC wannabee. Besides all the baggage she brings, I suspect the country is growing weary of the Bush-family/Clinton-family presidency trade-off. It'll be 20 years in 2008. It's time for a change. We can do better.

3. Hillary is a war crimminal, like Lieberman, Biden, and Gephardt are
She's not as bad as Bush & Cheney but she wants to be.

Hillary supports the Iraq war, so she should not be dumping Iraq. She should be fornicating with a Neocon over it and the "war on terror."

34. Based on the Nuremburg Trials, yes
Those who voted for IWR voted for an immoral war and abdicated their Congressional oversigtht of the Exec Branch. Those who voted for IWR to enhance their political aspirations are the worse of this bunch.

Let's remember, two thirds of all Dems in Congress REJECTED IWR because Bush did not present clear evidence that Saddam was an imminent threat, so the remaining third have no excuse.

4. Gay activist from Miami Beach unveils Hillary Now campaign
Associated Press
Posted August 1 2005, 12:17 PM EDT

CONCORD, N.H. -- A grass roots group led by a South Florida gay rights activist is releasing a TV campaign in support of New York Sen. Hillary Clinton for president.

Bob Kunst, of Miami Beach, heads the group, Hillary Now!, which hopes to lay the foundation for Clinton's possible bid for the presidency in 2008. Kunst ran an independent campaign for Florida governor in 2002, getting 0.8 percent of the vote.

Clinton has said she is concentrating on her re-election to the Senate next year and has not openly declared ambitions for the presidency, though she is perennially mentioned as a contender.

The animated commercial shows Clinton driving a garbage truck labeled ``Bush's Mess.'' Clinton empties trash cans labeled ``Iraq,'' ``War on Terror,'' ``Health Care'' and ``Budget'' while a giggling President Bush hides on the White House lawn.

5. No, thanks. What has she done for gays and lesbians?
More importantly, if a Hillary presidency is like her husband's, will she sell out gays and lesbians down the river if she thinks it will help her agenda or get her re-elected in 2012?

Personally, I really need to see more, and I'm not impressed with what I know (to date) about her and her relationship to the gay community. I've even read that she and Bill were both very homophobic during his presidency.

So, I like her, but we need to see more.

14. Stab our backs is about all she's done for us
She can walk her cynical political ass down every Gay Pride street that she wants, and crack her whitebread stereotypical Queer Eye for Straight Guy jokes at Empire State Pride banquets and the queens just eat it all up, but I'll never ever understand the mania of our brothers and sisters for that ambitious--I wish I could say fabulous--fake and hack.

20. What if she ends up being the Dem candidate in '08?
Will you support her or will you vote for Jeb Bush or an Independent Candidate?

I wasn't particularly happy that Kerry got the nomination in '04 but I supported him, anyway.

It just scares me how quickly Democrats turn on their own. You might not agree with every little thing she does, but she's essentially one of us.

Meanwhile, Bush could eat his mother's brains on national TV and Republicans would stick with him.

22. So when exactly is it "okay" to discuss a candidate's shortcomings?
HRC is supposedly considering a run. It's a legitimate response to say "I can't support her for President", just as it's a legitimate response to say "I'd support her in the general but I don't support her in the primary" or "I'd vote for her in the primary and general".

This is the shadow primary - - candidates test the waters before having to commit money and political capital to an actual campaign. It is really our duty as Democrats to tell the Dems who are considering a run what we think of that run.

I don't think that it does the Republican party any real good to support their office holders and candidates without question. Look at what it got them - - Bush - - somebody who loses support from Republicans each day. Polls show that the rank and file Republicans don't agree with most of Bush's policies. So why is it a good thing that they refuse to question their support of him?

I think the worst thing we can do as a party is try to be Republicans - - both in our policies and our ethics.

24. Oh I am not saying we should be more like them...
I was kind of hoping for a happy medium. We shouldn't blindly support any ol' Democrat, but as it is we seem to turn on them at the drop of a hat.

23. What if?
I will only support a candidate who supports me. That's what being a Democrat means to me.

I will not sell myself out to a sell-out who calls herself a Democrat, but who is not.

6. Why?
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 12:50 PM by Kelvin Mace
Having gays hanging around will interfere with her attempt to attract Republicans.

After 8 years of Clinton, what do gays and lesbians have to thank her for? "Don't Ask, Don't Tell?"

It's an entertaining commercial.

I suppose I'm glad it was made.

Clean up Dubya's mess, yeah.

I wonder why I've only seen it on Fox News (Fakes News)?

Who better to run with Hillary than the Dem who gave us the bankruptcy bill? She can pander to the religious extremists and Joe's got the corporate sell-out number down pat - truly a suitable match for each other.

11. Bob Kunst ... BWAAAAAHHHHH...
... Bob has been a rather unwelcome and self-appointed "spokesman" for Miami Gay Community for going on thirty years now.

He's a rather tragic and pointless soul whose primary (and probably exclusive) vocation in life is jumping from one cause to another. His "causes" are usually on the fringe while his "representation" of them pushes them even further beyond that fringe.

He's a loud mouth with no focus, no credibility and with virtually no community support; indeed, he's mostly an embarrassment to the community and is generally regarded as a gay joke. Apparently it was a very slow day at the Sun Sentinel.

He has to make a living somehow, I guess, but he will always be poor, poor Bob to those who have followed him for the last three decades.

Run away, Hiliary. Run far. Run fast.

15. Good question....Two Answers.
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 01:18 PM by MarkTwain
...1. because Bob is not a "gay activist." He's a grifter, who happens to be gay, looking for yet another cause upon which to hang his hat - a fact which his thirty year history more than amply demonstrates.

2. because even as much as the money he cultivates from these "projects," he craves the public attention. Attaching himself to the personna Clinton will buy an article or two over the next few months and feed Bob's ever hungry ego.

Your two answers confirm my suspicions. It is sombody who is doing something political not for how it might benefit the people he is supposed to be representing, but for his own personal goals.

Poor thing.

Phoney is right.

I think it is people that don't know anything about her really, calling themselves gay actitists when they are really just promoters. Hillary promoters. They must like the way she looks or the way she manipulates them, possibly. I doubt if they even know much about her stands on issues.

Gay activists my ass.

... without a doubt, on the far left side of the political spectrum, I guess I'd have to agree that he's our version of a "freeper."

He's the crazy, inappropriate, wildly self-centered old uncle better kept in the attic - just like all freepers.

Only she won't be President.

The only way she'll win the general is if the Republicans run Gilligan, who ritually sacrifices his mother to Satan on live TV.

Even then she'll only win by a whisker.
