Zogby: Despite Big Week for Bush, No Bounce So Far: Bush Job Rating @ 45%
Zogby 8/1/05

Despite a big week for the President, including passage of his energy bill, a high-profile transportation bill and the CAFTA agreement by Congress, favorable press coverage surrounding his personal commitment to fitness, and a positive public reaction to his first Supreme Court appointment, the President's approval rating is virtually unchanged from polling conducted in late June.

The same survey finds voters disapproving of President Bush's handling of every facet of his job, except the war on terrorism, which is approved by a narrow 51% majority.

13. Well.....
it do float.....but I like when it hits the fan with a satisfying splat. Remember, a bad day is when the shit hits the fan; a good day is when you have a 5 sec warning before it happens. Do you think it may be now? :hide:

2. the presstitutes are so..
.. stupid.

Polls are considered irrelevant in Bushland. People are thought of as pesky minor obstacles or groups to be exploited in order to promote the real business agenda.

There is no answer and no solution in the current political system. Ironically enough, the answer is the people, who will have to get angry enough to riot, demonstrate, and demand free and fair elections.

No matter what -we- here think of all the outrages, the people are not demanding anything much from their very corrupted officials... and when they do, they are simply being ignored or given a very nice pat on the head and a thank you for writing or calling, followed by an avuncular lecture on what those officials think about it all.

The current BP (Business Party, for we are now a one party state) will nice us all to death, literally.

3. That 45% approve of what's come down in aggregate is most telling
about the character and make-up of the American populace.

4. That's 'cause it was a big week for 1600 Pennsylvania Ave ONLY
'The people' don't give a shit about ANY of that crap. Energy Bill, CAFTA, transportation bill - not the sexiest topics for the general public.

Now war and Terra - THAT's where it's at.

7. Legislative victories do not necessarily translate into higher numbers
Bill Clinton got a lot of legislation passed in 1993-94, but was mired in the 40's. Yet when he was less successfull from there on out, he was a far more popular president.

The corporate media types can talk all they want to about "wins" for "President" Bush, but that's all Washington-speak. It means nothing to an average working American that this president got a Congress contolled by his own party to pass legislation which will not help working people anyway.

8. Polls
Has anyone seen a poll where the questios were:
1. Who did you vote for in 2004?
2. Given the opportunity, who would you vote for today?

It would be interetesting to see the results.

10. And the Bolton recess appointment will help Bush bounce?
Out of office and into the Senate for a trial, I hope. The past 4 1/2 years have merged into one big, blurry middle finger pointed up in the air--that should be the main design element for *'s presidential library. No cause for bouncing since Jan. 20, 2001, just for lots of grieving. Yes, Mr. President, who cares what I think?

14. well DUH..
did MSM ever think that just passing bills means nothing? Now, passing bills that benefit the American citizen just might produce a bounce in the numbers.

His energy bill was a big kiss to Energy companies, CAFTA was coporate friendly, but how has the American citizen benefitted?

If they want a kick in the polls, start polling CEO's.

18. Ahhh, Zogby is one of the fairer ones.
Any time I've seen John Zogby on an interview, he always says, don't pay much attention to single polittical polls. Watch the trend. Give it a month or two. That gives a much better picture.

Shrub's numbers have been under 50% for months now, and NONE of the polls show any upward trend!
