AFP: Bush often under fire for ties to Saudis
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 08:39 PM by deadparrot
WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President George W. Bush has often faced charges that longstanding ties between his family and the family of Saudi King Fahd, who died after a long illness, clouded his judgment on issues like oil and terrorism.

The White House has flatly denied such accusations, which grew louder after 15 Saudis were among the 19 hijackers who carried out the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on behalf of Osama bin Laden.

"Before September 11, in Saudi Arabia, terrorists were raising money and recruiting and operating with little opposition. Today, the Saudi government is taking the fight to Al-Qaeda, and America and the world are safer," Bush said in August 2004 during his successful reelection campaign.

But the official commission that investigated the failures that led up to the attacks said in its final report, released in July 2004, that "Saudi Arabia has been a problematic ally in combating Islamic extremism."

1. W and his family have been partners with them for decades
Going all the way back to Prescott Bush. Even though most of the 9/11 bombers were Saudi, you didn't see W invading Saudia Arabia.

2. He's not "under fire."
That would mean the press was covering it and the people actually knew about it.

5. One can hope ......
..... the rumor in Ohio is that Tom Noe used the Ohio Turnpike Commission
and Jeb used the one in Florida to launder money .... some of which
was Saudi. DA Morgan Thew (Spelling ?) in New York is looking into some
stuff too.

This got Ray Lemme killed in Georgia.

10. Doesn't make a fucking bit of difference. It's old news that
the bushes are in the pockets of the Fahds; why should it bother them now?

And we thought that Reagan was coated with Teflon? NOTHING, up to and including blatant treason, sticks to the bush crowd.

Nothing.

11. The name George Bush should be synonymous with Benedict Arnold
I think that says it all right there.

12. I must have missed this when it was all over the TV "news."
All I could see was OJ Simpson, shark attacks, Terri Schaivo, missing blonde girls and/or Michael Jackson. And what a "popular wartime preznit" bu$h is.

SIDEBAR: I see "extremism" again where I am accustomed to seeing "terror." Must be part of the "new product rollout."
