Poll Shows Spitzer Leading All Potential Rivals But Giuliani (NY Gov)
Attorney General Eliot Spitzer appears to be in good shape for next year's governor's race – that is, unless former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani decides to run.

The latest Quinnipiac poll finds that Spitzer would beat out a substantial list of possible Republican candidates, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former Massachusetts Governor William Weld, and Westchester D.A. Jeanine Pirro – as well as Independence candidate Thomas Golisano.

But Spitzer still trails Giuliani by 7 percentage points in a hypothetical match-up against the former mayor.

Nevertheless, the poll shows quite an improvement for Spitzer since April, when Giuliani was 25 points ahead.

1. Not if Spitzer airs ads of Giuliani saying ThankGodBushispresident
ad nauseum.

I would say this - Rudy Giuliani is THANKFUL that the president HE voted for was handed the Hart-Rudman Report on Global Terror on Jan 30, 2001, and he REFUSED TO READ IT.

Any other President in the history of this nation, would have shown the responsibilty and READ THAT REPORT.

Rudy is THANKFUL that Bush is a president who chose NOT to read it.

Rudy is THANKFUL that Bush is a president who IGNORED the threat of terror.

Rudy is THANKFUL for a president who FOUGHT inquiries into WH failings before 9-11.

13. Add to that "Rudy" blaming the troops for missing explosives....
"The president was cautious, the president was prudent, the president did what a commander in chief should do. No matter how you try to blame it on the president the actual responsibility for it really would be for the troops that were there. Did they search carefully enough? Didn't they search carefully enough?"

16. Oh yeah....another turd gem from Rudy's lips....
That was a classic. I remember watching that when he said it.

Amazing how the media lets Rudy and McCain get away with so much crap in their efforts to keep the dictatortot prooped up.

2. Giuliani actually running will only dissappoint people.
Giuliani the 9/11 icon is appreciated. Giuliani the man is an arrogant, divorced, moneygrubbing insider. Icons can't stand up to a campaign, reality sets in sooner or later, and people realize that they can't elect the images of 9/11 but have to choose between real human beings.

3. I think "adulterer" is a
better description than "divorced"..little jerkoff rudy's polls were in the tank when 9/11 happened. Another one who made out off the blood of thousands.

4. He's been cashing in on 9/11
I think that too will come up.

As for adulterer, republicans don't use that term for themselves. They are always faithful....to one, then the next one, then the next one. As far as you know. Rudy did have the special act of bringing the other woman into his marital home. I don't think anyone tolerates THAT shit.

7. Yeah, rudy didn't give a shit
about bringing judy(was it?)into Gracie Mansion where he was living with his children and Donna Hanover.

I just googled rudy and found out he was married to his 2nd cousin the first time around.

ewwww...

BTW, IIRC, many NYers started getting tired of Giulliani's exploiitation of 9/11. I recall many firefighters and police officers were especially annoyed...

5. Giuliani is another over-hyped piece of excrement
like that stuff on the Virgin Mary. Hehe.

Hey, is Spitzer a true-blue progressive? All I know is that he is the hero of corporate accountability.

6. guiliani
I agree. He is an adulterer, opportunist, unprincipled SOB!
Any Mayor in that situation would have done what he did. Besides he didn't do much except to hold news conferences.Actual heroic work was done by the firefighters, police, medical doctors and personnel and various others. He just stole the limelight.SOB!!!!!!
He should not be allowed to hold any office in New York. If he wants to be elected as a Repug,he should move to Texas,Mississipi,Alabama,or any one of the other Red states.

Younger than me! I'm in shock. Everyone else famous born in 1959 seems to be ... well ... Michael Jackson and Danny Bonaducci are two of them.

Go Spitzer!! Do us Gen-Joneses proud!

8. Rudy is, was, and always will be, a BULLY
He fits in great with this administration, but there are a lot of us who weren't blinded by 9/11 and remember what the man was like PRE 9/11.

I remember one particular quote of his, "I don't care if you homeowners don't want a stadium in your backyards, it's MY decision, not yours." Yep, that's ole Rudy for you. I won't even go into the corruption factor.

A dictator in the White House is enough, thank you very much. We don't need one in the Governor's office too.

9. Bring Him On!
Spitzer spanks Giuliani next year—if Rudy dares to run. NY state is hungry for change and Rudy is a bona fide nouveau riche establishment boot licker. Spitzer can run as an outsider and as a corporate crime fighter to defuse Rudy's law-and-order message. He can also tie Rudy to *, which is a home run in every major metro area in the state. Spitzer's a fresh face in a very stale environment. I can't wait to see him as my Guv. If it takes stomping Rudy along the way, so be it.

17. Getting Out the Vote
I would like to see Spitzer win in 2006. What are the voting rates like in New York State. Is there any chance that the Democrats can or will increase the number of Democrats who get out and go to the polls.

18. Wasn't Giuliani also tied to that guy that was going to head the FBI?
Remember? The one that was the former Chief of Police, or some such, where the guy was corrupt as hell, and withdrew his name from nomination. It was either FBI, CIA or Homeland Security that he was up for, but they found out he was way corrupt.

I think he was under Giuliani, wasn't he?
