CONGATE: Records track flow of state cash to Noe. (LAUNDERING)

Subsidiary guaranteed loans, was transfer point for millions
By CHRISTOPHER D. KIRKPATRICK and STEVE EDER
BLADE STAFF WRITERS

COLUMBUS — From the first days of Ohio’s $50 million rare-coin investment, money flowed to coin dealers across the country and into the personal business accounts of Tom Noe.

With the first $25 million, Mr. Noe quickly invested money into real estate and his associates’ coin businesses, and he brokered multimillion dollar coin deals that made the state little money but that allowed him to unload his coins for hundreds of thousands to the state, according to rare-coin records released yesterday by the state.
...
The hiring of Chrans to run a state-funded subsidiary was one of Mr. Noe’s first rare-coin decisions on behalf of the state.

The ex-convict facing bankruptcy back in 1998 cost Ohio a total of $1.2 million, the sum of unpaid loans, soured deals, and salary advances.

It is beyond belief that the Republican Party was ever able to position itself as the party of fiscal responsibility. They are simply the party of criminal behavior and drug use (Chrans went to prison for cocaine dealing). They only look responsible because they dress in business attire.

2. Has Noe received his Medal of Freedom yet?
Or is that just for federal criminals?

4. The medal of Freedom does
seem to be reserved for federal or even international criminals. But Noe may yet qualify ~

COLUMBUS — From the first days of Ohio’s $50 million rare-coin investment, money flowed to coin dealers across the country and into the personal business accounts of Tom Noe.

If the crime is across state lines, doesn't that make it a federal offense? I wonder why the Feds are not involved in this investigation, especially since it looks like every Republican in the state was somehow involved or benefited from this corruption. Maybe they are?

I know Rep. Conyers has requested that a special prosecutor be brought in to fully investigate the entire mess.

I wonder how much of this crooked money went to the Bush/Cheney campaign?

8. I thought that was accomplished.
Schmidt said she never met Noe but he testified for a committee she chaired - there was a fuzzy campaign transaction somewhere as well. I don't know Ohio politics so I'm certain someone around DU can fill U in on the particulars.

12. "They only look responsible"
You are so right when you say, "They only look responsible because they dress in business attire". Americans have so embraced conformity that one only needs to dress appropriately and be clean cut to have a place in the corporate/Republican criminal section of our society. A criminal in a suit who says he loves Jesus and hates abortions is still a criminal middle America! Sheesh. Look for my essay coming soon titled : America - Held Hostage by Hate, Fear, Intolerance and Republicans. :eyes:
