Saudi frustrated at U.S. doubts on militant policy

RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said Wednesday he was frustrated some U.S. politicians refused to accept the kingdom was doing its utmost to combat Islamic militancy.

"Some members of (U.S.) Congress refuse to believe we are doing as much as we can to fight terrorism ... It is their opinion and not the true facts," the prince said after a ceremony held to allow Saudis to pledge allegiance to new ruler King Abdullah.

He said relations with the U.S. government were good but that the kingdom was working hard to improve links with the American public.

"With the people, I hope there is an improvement in the trust they have with the Saudi people ... This is something we are working assiduously to achieve," he said.

Information Minister Iyad Madani said the two countries had had a "bumpy ride" since 2001, but were reaching "a fuller understanding of how things function on either side of the ocean."

Well, considering that almost all the hijackers o 9/11 were SAUDI, I suppose it would be somewhat of a "bumpy ride". Also considering Bin Laden is Saudi, and the rest of his huge family, with his 52 siblings.

ALSO, considering Bush and the Saudi Royal family goes way back, I'd say there's a little bit of a connection.
