Bush: recent attacks in Iraq "grim reminder of the enemies we face"

GRAPEVINE, Texas President Bush says the latest deadly attacks in Iraq are a "grim reminder" of what U-S forces are up against there.

The president spoke on a day that 14 Marines died when a patrol in western Iraq was hit by a roadside bomb -- the deadliest such bombing yet.

Speaking to a group of business leaders and state lawmakers near Dallas, Bush didn't directly mention today's attack.

But he said recent violence makes clear what America faces in Iraq: "terrorists and insurgents" who'll use "brutal tactics" to further their goals. He says they hope to force America to retreat -- but will fail.

...and an insurgency that is OH-SO-**NOT** in it's "last throes".

We're over there creating the West-hating terrorists of tomorrow and THAT is what the recent attacks and roadside bombs of ever-increasing strength is a reminder of - not to mention an even MORE grim reminder of what a destructive murderous, MORON we have running this country.

Edited on Wed Aug-03-05 01:46 PM by tabasco
The Commander In Chief took the Nation to war on trumped-up evidence.

This was a crime against the People of the United States and Iraq. We The People should punish Bush for his crimes. Knowingly launching a war of aggression cannot be tolerated in the 21st century. Especially in a Nation founded against tyranny and based on the rule of law.

Bush is personally responsible for all of the unnecessary death and destruction in Iraq.

10. Do you suppose he didn't mention today's attack because he didn't
even know about it? Everything that comes out of his mouth is canned. This latest spew was written for him before the attacks. He's out there trying to remind everyone that this is a war and must be completed. I'm guessing that's because they aren't happy with the attempt to recategorize this as a struggle. (GSAVE)

Meantime, Bush says the families of fallen troops can know their loved ones died in a noble cause -- and their sacrifice will be honored "by completing the mission.".....Just as soon as he gets back from vacation!

They are living off the thrill of the pure con-job going on. They will back that war because they know Bush is using it to fuck everything up and fuck everyone. We are talking about brain dead white male ignoramuses. And yes, with the thrill they experience of their champion Bush and his criminal syndicate dismantling our modern society as we know it, what's a few dead Marines?

30. But where's the national outrage -- how much more deaths and scandals
will it take? Remember how superior this country used to feel to the "sheep" who lived in the former Soviet Union? But "sheep" there did not have the freedoms or opportunities to protest. When they tried, they were slaughtered. This is much, much worse. Why aren't we all, or at least 50% of us, on the streets, every day, until he has to resign?

45. I think a lot of people really don't care.
They are living their own lives without interference. Like Barbara Bush, why should they bother their "beautiful minds" with what is being done to other people, other people who are very far away and unknown to us personally.

I've protested a lot, but when the protest is over, I come home to running water and electricity. My life is not truly disrupted by the war in Iraq.

I think the other people just don't care.

I can tell you who cares: liberals. Our conservative friends and family are not bothering their "beautiful minds". They slap a decal on their vehicle and drive to the mall or to Wal-Mart to buy more junk.
Meanwhile, our liberal friends, who have children close to the same age who are either in college, getting ready for college, or just graduated, never fail to not only ask about our son but to send him letters and packages. They're busy, too. But they care.
And that has made all the difference.

64. Well, like the vice president
they have "other priorities".
Many people want to believe we're "spreading democracy" and the "press isn't telling us the good stuff." Any reminder that this might not be reality is too unsettling for them. It doesn't fit with their preset calcified stubborness. It's just too scary.
And, sadly, my son (and all the others) are pushed aside. That way, doubt is kept at bay.

flood the streets and stay there until it becomes really uncomfortable for them. If there were daily protests in big cities all over the country, people would join, and crowds would grow -- just like it happened in Eastern Europe.

32. In his article entitled Bush's Absurd Strategy for Battling Terror ,
José Luis Cubillán from Venezuela's El Mundo states,
(snip)
"The strategies to counter terrorism have an absurd parallel. Suppose you were a man that was determined eradicate HIV from the world, and you decide that the best strategy for doing so would be to kill all the people on earth who carried the virus, so as to eliminate the virus within them. Sounds stupid, doesn’t it? Yet this is the strategy that the first world has implemented to battle terrorism - attacking nations where it is believed terrorism germinates, and forcing Muslims in London, New York and Madrid to submit to the most onerous registration procedures." (snip)

can bush really kill each and every person he suspects of being a terrorist? we will forever be at some sort of war/invasion/occupation/militarism/jackboot-ism in this world and bush and his goons will forever be creating more and more hate against us.

Bush loves death. He loves to inflict it, revelling in his power. And like any other murderous psychopath, Bush is utterly indifferent to his victims; only the thought of new ones animates him. Thus, he will NEVER VOLUNTARILY end this or any other conlict he might begin, because he is psychologically INCAPABLE of stopping.

He is Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy writ large.

Let me get this straight. When there is a lull in insurgent activity, that means things are going well and that we are winning. But when there is a disastrous day like today, it's a grim reminder of what we face - or is that a sign of how desperate we are? I can't remember, it's hard to keep track.

75. Referring to the violence without referring to the people who died...
...is mean, selfish, rude, unconscionable, politically motivated, politically calculated, hard-hearted, cold, nasty, unkind, cruel, callous, uncaring, malicious, despicable, and shameful.

Just imagine how their parents, spouses and loved ones feel right now, and the only thing the chimp-in-charge has to say is "this stuff is a grim reminder". The loss of their loved ones is much, much, much more than a freaking grim reminder. It's a tragedy, not some freakin' object lesson, you freak of freakin' nature.

I'm so pissed off, I may need to use my thesaurus...

77. Bush Says Iraq Deaths Will Not Shake US Resolve
Bush Says Iraq Deaths Will Not Shake US Resolve
By Scott Stearns
Washington
03 August 2005

President Bush speaks at the American Legislative Exchange Council's annual meeting

President Bush says attacks against U.S. troops in Iraq are meant to shake America's will and try to force an early pull-out of troops.

President Bush says foreign fighters are battling U.S. troops in Iraq because they realize that a democratic government in the heart of the Middle East would be a major blow to what Mr. Bush says is a hateful and dark ideology.

Mr. Bush spoke to a meeting of state legislators in Texas shortly after Marine commanders announced another 14 deaths Wednesday following the loss of seven Marines in western Iraq on Monday.

The president says it is a time of testing in Iraq and American troops are up to the challenge.

80. Bush Says U.S. To Remain In Iraq

Bush Says U.S. To Remain In Iraq
Iraq -- map
(RFE/RL)
4 August 2005 (RFE/RL) -- U.S. President George W. Bush has said U.S. troops will remain in Iraq to finish their mission, after 14 U.S. marines and their interpreter were killed by a roadside bomb there.

The incident occurred on 3 August during combat operations near the town of Haditha, some 200 kilometers northwest of Baghdad. The Islamic extremist Ansar al-Sunnah Army claimed responsibility.

The latest troop casualties come a day after seven Marines were killed in the same area.

In further violence in Iraq, unknown assailants have shot dead the American journalist Steven Vincent. His body was found yesterday in the city of Al-Basrah. Iraqi police said gunmen abducted Vincent and his Iraqi translator on 2 August

81. The deadly sin of pride.
The Chimp isn't saying anything new here. As usual, his thinking is fatally flawed. Impeachment's too good for him. Impeach and exile, maybe (and not to Crawford).

BTW, I thought he'd declared mission accomplished two years ago.
