Minister says Iraqis will have continuous power supply in 2008

Iraqis will need to wait for three more years to enjoy uninterrupted power supplies, said Electricity Minister Mohsen Shlash.

“The electricity crisis will be fully solved by 2008,” the minister said in an interview.

Shlash said once the current three-year plan is implemented, the country should be in a position to export electricity.

Power is very erratic in Iraq with outages of nearly 20 hours a day in many cities, including the capital, Baghdad.
