Doctors Use Patients' Own Stem Cells to Build New Blood Vessels
Therapy Could Help Millions of Heart Patients Each Year

Aug. 2, 2005 - Adult stem cells are found throughout the body -- in the brain, bones, muscle, skin and blood -- which help heal the body after injury. But now, researchers are using high concentrations of these cells to actually build new arteries in adult patients. <snip>

Results in more than 100 patients show that, within just three months after the stem cell injections, patients see a significant improvement in blood flow to the heart. The heart muscle itself actually doubles its ability to squeeze or contract. <snip>

"It could be patients who are receiving stents, who are recovering from coronary bypass surgery, patients with heart failure," said Patel. "All of these patients have the potential to benefit from this therapy." <snip>

Doctors at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital have started injecting adult stem cells into the leg to grow new arteries there. Jeremy Kotner, 27, had so little blood flow in his right leg he was at risk of having it amputated. <snip>

10. I'm confused.
I thought Frist was holding out for "embryonic" stem cell research funding.

The kind of research described in the article's already funded by NIH (and, probably, other US government agencies).

3. So much potential....
If it saves one little kid with a bleeding disorder, cancer, or diabetes it's well worth the effort.

4. Stem cells can be recruited in a person by increasing the
level of micronutrition available to that person.

Stem Cell Breakthrough: Can You Now Make Your Own?
Research has begun to establish a connection between a new form of nutrient and stem cell production. Case histories cited.

David Lear (Article Warehouse - Apr 29, 2005) -- Over the past few years, stem cells have been getting a lot of attention. What makes them so interesting is their ability to stimulate the production of many types of healthy cells. That means that a single stem cell can turn itself into brain cells, liver cells, skin cells, pancreas cells, and so on.

In February of 2003, an article about stem cells was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). A team of researchers at Johns Hopkins Medical Center reported, for the first time, that undifferentiated donor stem cells were able to cross the blood brain barrier and morph themselves into neuronal cells.

This was an especially important finding because, of all the cells in the body, neuron cells are the most advanced and complicated. This is significant because it means that if stem cells can morph themselves into brain neurons, then, chances are they can transform themselves into other types of cells too.

6. Bet Dick Cheney's already growing new heart muscle!!
HE has been cited recently as having some new heart procedure done. Not like they'll tell the TRUTH as to what procedure it really is.
Costing the TAXPAYERS lots of $$$$. Are we buying that ugly satanic rat fu**er more years to terrorize this planet?

Many people could benefit from this. Too bad they live in a country that doesn't support health care for the masses.
Only for the elected few.

Maybe Frist is changing his stance on Stem Cell Research since this news is revealed..maybe he's found a new way to PROFIT from this procedure. Dr Frist's going to buy the market and sell the stock.

Afterall, its the size of the profit that determines the policies of the neocons.

Just when I think I've seen it all, I discover something new. This is really impressive.

9. yes it is very promising, I own stock in a company that deals with
adult stem cells.... warning it is a penny type stock it can go up to $5 and as low as 30c but I have been long for over 7 years.... ASTM seems to be a solid company and the sky is the limit (imho) I don't own any embryonic stem cell companies, not for any social or moral reasons, just because these companies are even more start up than ASTM and because of Bush and co. there is limited money for these companies....

again a disclaimer if interested in ASTM buy at your own risk...
