Robert Novak Walks Off CNN Set
Novak curses, walks off CNN set:-
WASHINGTON | August 05, 2005 3:11:46 AM IST

Veteran Washington journalist Robert Novak uttered an expletive and walked off the set during a political discussion on CNN Thursday.

The conservative pundit was appearing with Democratic consultant James Carville on the Strategy Session segment of Inside Politics.

This incident reminds me fondly of VP Cheney and Senator Leahy last year. I'm surprised Novak didn't tell Carville to go "cheney himself."

off the set by the Director or maybe even the Producer.:woohoo:

Their is about a 5 second gap between the time he says "Bull Shit" and then he looks up and see someone off camera, THEN takes off his mike and exits Screen Left.

I don't think leaving to the Left has anything to do with it, but it definitely looks like he was responding to someone directing him to exit the set.

Something like a "Bob, can I have a word with you" look.:yoiks:

Here's the link to Media Matters, they have the clip:

22. I just thought of something else it could be, maybe his Lawyer...
..."Pulled him" off the set, because the Lawyer DID know that the Host was about to ask him about the CIA Leak, and the Lawyer didn't want the host to even have the opportunity to pose the question.

That would suck for us, but still could be just as damaging to his reputation.

45. thanks
I had heard it but did not see it. They WERE going to ask him about the CIA leak - so I think he just had a melt down from the pressure. It was funny to hear them say the republican 'establishment' was against Harris in Florida BTW -is the 'establishment' getting weary of BushInc. types and sick of fraud and lies?
I heard Tucker Calrson briefly today and even he was saying the war was a mistake, and did not dispute at all when others discusesed US being their due to disinformation. Rachl Maddow was on the show and talked about the difference between the insugency and terrorist -good points. I am getting the feeling more conservatives are getting sick of the BushInc. cabal

If he had refused to go on the show, one he's been on forever, it would automatically look like he's trying to hide.

Now he can try to shift the responsibility to Carville by claiming he has had enough of Carville's rudeness.

I mean, if Dick Cheney can tell people to go fuck themselves on TV, the bar has pretty much been lowered to the ground. Maybe they were just upset that he left the stage and had to fill the show with even more mindless prattle then usual.

36. Takebackthemedia.com filed Assault charges on Novak Jan 27th Here's Video
We saw him actually attacked a guy in New Hampshire, I caught the guy and we went and filed assault charges in Jan 27th 2004

***************

Wow. He's lost it again - just saw the footage on CNN and we at Takebackthemedia.com are NOT surprised. Novak has actually ATTACKED people before and then Lied about what happened to the Washington Post - We know, we were THERE when it happened, I actually caught Brad Carr, the man who was assaulted by Novak.

Watch the video here: http://web.takebackthemedia.com/geeklog/public_html/staticpages/index.php?page=20050805004552146

Here's what we posted back in January 2004 about the assault.

***********************************

A Take Back the Media SCOOP - Novak savagely attacks onlooker at New Hampshire Primaries.

From Takebackthemedia.com on January 27th, 2004 --

CNN has created massive coverage of the New Hampshire Primaries - bringing with them on their gaudy Election 2004 bus a host of their news anchors, including one Robert Novak - who is most well known for his obfuscating on CROSSFIRE.

Remember Robert Novak? He's the source of the Valerie Plame CIA outing in the media and has never been called to task for what appears to be a rather substantial breaking of Federal LAW.

As of this date, for nearly 100 days no one in this administration has wanted to touch this - for apparently someone high in the Bush administration has to have passed this information along to Novak, and whoever did that may be culpable legally as well.

It looks like there is some movement in that direction - a Grand Jury is being empaneled for this purpose. To me if looks like Novak is screwed either way. If he tells WHO gave him that information - he has no credibility - if he DOESN'T talk, he may be jailed. He may be jailed anyway - as I understand it (and I am not a lawyer) this is a CRIME.

So it would make sense that Novak is worried - perhaps to the point of losing his cool or his mind - which he did on January 27 outside of the Merrick Restaurant at about 5:15 pm. I was there, I saw it - I even caught the guy that Novak attacked.

I can't get the image out of my mind. Novak looked like a little caged animal - fist locked and *censored*ed back, he wasn't through with his victim before getting hustled off and onto the bus.

How did we get to this moment?

52. Updated article indicates CNN claims they told him to take a break.....
After CNN outburst, Novak told to take a break
Fri Aug 5, 2005 4:34 AM ET

By Paul J. Gough

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - CNN took veteran political columnist Robert Novak off the air late Thursday after he uttered an expletive and walked off the set of "Inside Politics" while it was still on the air.

Novak's outburst happened 10 minutes before the end of the show in the midst of an exchange among Novak, fellow analyst James Carville and "Inside Politics" anchor Ed Henry. They were talking about the possible Senate candidacy of Florida congresswoman Katherine Harris when Carville needled Novak and tried to interrupt.

"He's got to show the right-wingers that he's got backbone," Carville, a Democrat, said of his political rival. "Go ahead, the Wall Street Journal editorial page is watching. Show them you're tough."

Novak, shown on the screen sitting next to Carville, waved his right hand and replied: "I think that's bull----, and I hate that. Just let it go." While Henry addressed another question to Carville, Novak stood up, walked off the set behind Carville -- fully visible to viewers -- and apparently pulled off his microphone. Henry and Carville didn't miss a beat.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maybe they decided to claim he's taking a break for the moment, and will announce later that he's not coming back. I hope he won't be back.
You're right: he should have been terminated as soon as it was revealed he had betrayed a U.S. C.I.A. agent.
Why he is still with her is beyond me. It was cute during Clinton /Bush era, but now it is about A LOT more...but i guess she is the mother of his children so he will have to defend her - wait, I thought that reporters were suppose to be UNBIASED.
They should get him to cuss too.
47. No-back (bone) has gotten increasingly testy, the last few months.
Before they discontinued the 6 pm Saturday show, he had increasingly taken to angrily bawling out his compatriots for stepping on his lines (something he, himself has been well known for.) I managed to miss his comments, today; I had switched CNN on for the first time in a long time but Jon Stewart did a superb job of covering it, tonight.
