Note shows Saddam grabbed $1 billion ($100 bills)

Note shows Saddam grabbed $1 billion:-
BAGHDAD | August 06, 2005 12:11:37 AM IST

Saddam Hussein reportedly told the central bank to hand over $1 billion -- three truckloads of U.S. $100 bills -- just before the invasion of Iraq.

The bank was ordered to give the money to Saddam's youngest son in a handwritten note to Isam Huwaish, the bank's governor, the British newspaper The Telegraph reported. The note was passed to the Iraqi newspaper al-Mashriq by Huwaish's lawyer, who argues it clears his client of corruption charges.

Bank employees described the handover after the country fell in 2003. But the note, dated March 19, 2003, marked top secret and signed in what appears to be Saddam's hand, is the first written proof.

In the note Saddam said he wanted to keep the money out of enemy hands.

1. Seems like I remember reading that
the US forces captured some trucks full of money and that it was ordered taken from the bank by his sons and was being trucked out of the country. Could this be the same money????

at least, when some of it was found ...

and, recall posting my wish for 'a leader' to call for a full and complete accounting and tracking of each Note's serial number ... too late now, I suppose ... heaven knows where that money is ...

... and, wasn't gold found, too?

where did it go?

Found: Saddam's $12.5m cash crop
By Peter Foster in Tikrit

June 21 2003

On his current pay grade, Captain Brad Boyd would need to work for 209 years and seven months to earn the stack of $US100 bills piled on the table in front of him.

"It sure is a big stash of money," Captain Boyd said as he told how $US12.5 million ($18.6 million) came to be sitting on a sideboard in the presidential palace in Saddam Hussein's home town, Tikrit.

16. Refresher.....
"BAGHDAD, Iraq, May 5 — In the hours before American bombs began falling on the Iraqi capital, one of President Saddam Hussein's sons and a close adviser carried off nearly $1 billion in cash from the country's Central Bank, according to American and Iraqi officials here."

4. Well, gosh, how could I have ever been so wrong
This surely is sufficient evidence of why we needed to sacrifice more than 1,800 U.S. lives. After all, stealing a billion dollars is a heinous act that should not go unpunished.

Why, if that ever happened in the United Sta--

Oh, wait, never mind.

7. It's true. And I have proof.

I have received several emails from Saddam's relatives seeking my assistance in moving this money abroad. Apparently the money has been deposited in trunk boxes with a security company. Once all of the modalities are concluded I will be receiving 20% of the proceeds. Pretty cool or what?

...and bill it as the Adrenaline Tour Super Vacation.

Who needs a view of the surf or the mountains when you can look out any window of your plush accommodations and see actual peasants being actually blown up by actual guerrillas?

Should be quite popular among the Upper One PerCenters.

Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 03:55 PM by underpants
but we are supposed to believe that perhaps, not that there is any proof of this, but it could have been that Saddam SNUCK 300,000 tons of WMD around and out of the country without anyone NO ONE catching it.

Uh okay
