Irishmen face extradition demand

Colombia is demanding the extradition of three men sentenced to 17 years in jail for training Marxist rebels, but who are now back in the Irish Republic.

Niall Connolly, Martin McCauley and James Monaghan went missing while on bail in December and have since secretly returned to their homeland.

Colombia's vice-president said Irish authorities had a "legal and moral obligation" to return the republicans.

Currently, the two countries do not have an extradition treaty.
