Intelligence chiefs warn Blair of home-grown 'insurgency'
By Raymond Whitaker and Francis Elliott
07 August 2005

Intelligence chiefs are warning Tony Blair that Britain faces a full-blown Islamist insurgency, sustained by thousands of young Muslim men with military training now resident in this country.

The grim possibility that the two London attacks were not simply a sporadic terror campaign is being discussed at the highest levels in Whitehall. Fears of a third strike remain high this weekend, based on concrete evidence supplied by an intercepted text message and the interrogation of a terror suspect being held outside Britain, say US reports.

Even though the vast majority had come to Britain to escape the lawlessness of their homelands, the source added, there remained an alarmingly large pool of trained men who could be lured into violent action here.

"There has been a debate on whether we are facing an insurgency or terrorism," said the source, "and the verdict is on the side of an insurgency."

1. brilliant, kicking the beehive brought out the bees
And now Bliar has, by borrowing Bushler's stupidity, arranged for the UK to get stung.

This is why targeting ethnicities and religions is so counterproductive. The whole point of using intelligence organizations and proper justice systems is so that when things do go haywire (e.g. extremists of a particular race/religion flying off the handle) you don't incite more to violence. The "soft sell" and "velvet revolution" affairs save a lot of money and a lot of lives (including those of the religions and ethnicities the bigots care about).

Freaking morons.

3. A bit late with this warning, perhaps?
I don't see that they have just found this out since the London bombings.

So it looks to me like this is just "intelligence sources" acting as rent-a-quote merchants for Blair, in aid of pushing through his pending illiberal legislation.

I think there are similar pieces in the Sunday Times... Oh yes, David Leppard quoting the metropolitan police that they are on the look out for women and children suicide bombers ( http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,22989-1725414,00.html ) and the Insight Team going "undercover in the academy of hatred" ( http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,22989-1725413,00.html ).

Very convenient for Blair, these stories. Perhaps not entirely a coincidence.

9. Precisely
Bliar is campaigning for his version of a Patriot Act so he can introduce the New Fascism to the UK just like his mentor Bushler&Co, who had the original Patriot Act ready to go as the towers collapsed.

Note also: "interrogation of a terror suspect being held outside Britain". Ah, I see that Bliar is adopting the Bushler practice of outsourcing torture to avoid treaty obligations. Good show. Brilliant. etc.

6. But the Poodle keeps repeating that Iraq has nothing to do
with the bombings.

Who will get to Blair first? The Islamists thirsting for revenge, or the British people demanding justice for this war criminal?

7. And remember, this has nothing to do with Iraq.

8. It's not Tony's fault so stop saying that!
All these ungrateful immigrants, they're to blame.

A well-connected source said there were more than 100,000 people in Britain from "completely militarised" regions...

Oh no! Guess we better stop taking refugees from war zones then.
