Museum exhibits a creationist viewpoint

Tucked into a leafy fold of the Ozark Mountains, a new dinosaur museum boldly goes where few museums have gone before--deep into the pages of Genesis.

At first glance, with its research-quality replicas and lush dioramas of prehistoric Earth, the Museum of Earth History, which opened in April in this Victorian spa town, may seem like any other facility devoted to dinosaurs and fossils. But with exhibits aligned with the Bible's six days of creation, it also is emblematic of the increasing volume in the national debate over how evolution should be taught in public schools and the emboldening of those who oppose or question evolution.

At issue, in state legislatures, school boards, museums and other cultural institutions across the country, is whether evolution, Charles Darwin's widely accepted theory that all life descended from common ancestors and developed through natural selection and random mutation, should be presented alone or in conjunction with alternative explanations.

Most visitors to the Museum of Earth History prefer the explanation in Genesis. And that is exactly what the museum, a joint project of the non-profit, Oklahoma-based Creation Truth Foundation and Eureka Springs' Great Passion Play outdoor Bible theme park, offers.

These people have created a bubble to live in and will not allow anything that questions their "authority" into that bubble.

They are truly dillusional and uneducated. The sheeple that are destroying the globe with their quest for power and dominance.

3. Not publicly funded
so who cares? If people don't want to go, they won't. If it were publicly funded, then I guess it would be illegal. What some enterprising person or persons should do is open up a museum across the street and show the evolution side of things.

10. Heck.
Genesis isn't a legitimate scientific and historical explanation for GENESIS.

According to Genesis, God created in this order...
All the animals
Man and Woman
Man
All the animals
Woman.

If you can't get the story straight in the first two chapters, why read the rest of the series?

9. The Museum of Unnatural History? The sounds of banjos are heard in
the background as the theme songs from "Deliverance" and the "Twilight Zone" simultaneously echo off the actual bones of the tyrannosaurus that got Eve to chow down on the apple in the Garden of Eden.

There is no such thing as natural selection and no creatures have ever really gone extinct. Dinosaurs still roam the earth, we just can't find them. Oil deposits are not really the by-product of ancient debris. Oil, it has been proven, is actually demon piss that leaks out of hell and is produced on a daily basis so there is no chance of the world running out of oil.:silly:

The moon is made of cream cheese, and I am actually Napolean Bonaparte, lalalalalalalalalalala.

Fundies are crazier than shithouse rats and should be psychologically evaluated before they are allowed to vote.

It is sad about Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty and Bam-Bam and Pebbles, though. That whole line of the human race must have perished in the flood, along with Dino and their washing machine. Pterodactyl Airlines, Rock Vegas, all of it gone...a tragedy.

18. I hope they have a full scale model of Noah's ark.
That would be good for a chuckle. I want to see how a dozen or so people got rid of the waste of hundreds of thousands of animals every day. And how they brought them food and water. And how they got enough light down in the hold to be able to see. And how they prevented the various predators from eating their prey. And where all that water went in just a few thousand years. Etc.

stop to think whether they had any Tulsa relatives or friends?

If I had thought of any, I would have called to warn them away from surgeons Robert and Debbie Archer. This makes me think that in the future, I'll have to make sure my health care practitioners believe in evolution. Scary.

25. Wisdom from their "Museum" -
<snip>

discover: Were Dinosaurs on the Ark of Noah?

Yes. From a biblical standpoint, it is extremely clear that God created all land animals on day six of the creation week (dinosaurs are land animals), and that He gathered two (male and female) of each kind of land animal into the ark.

Therefore, dinosaurs were included in this group. This is reinforced by statements in Genesis 7, which say that all animals with the breath of life came by pairs into the ark.

But apparently all the Permian land animals, the cenozoic land animals including the terror birds, and the pleistocene megafauna including the Mammoth....

That must have been a REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY big Ark.

33. Idiocy and pure superstitious drivel. Where on the ark would 2
brontosaurus fit? How did Noah get on board all the unique species from all over the world? And how did he put them back after the flood? It's not like he had a jumbo jet at his service to travel around the world. I think the people that need to believe in the inerrancy of the Bible actually have very shallow faith, so shallow that it can't deal with any part of the Bible not being literally true. One break from that, and their whole faith is gone, and that scares the shit out of them, so they fight back with this creationism crap.

34. Wasn't a very successful endeavor either
90% of Noah's charges died after they got off the boat, when you consider the Cambrian, Permian, Cretaceous, and myriad other great extinctions had to have happened after the flood.

Or maybe having a couple of T Rexes onboard for a month and a half whittled the population down...

Suspended overhead in one display, for example, is a replica of a Pteranodon, a pointy-headed flying reptile with a 33-foot wingspan, hollow bones and a bony ruffle on its skull. Visitors are told: "Each of these unique design features indicate that Pteranodons were created to fly, not that they slowly evolved into flying creatures."

32. You haven't lived until you've read through the one near Cincinnati
http://www.answersingenesis.org/museum/

Examples:

Explore the wonders of creation. The imprint of the Creator is all around us. And the Bible’s clear—heaven and earth in six 24-hour days, earth before sun, birds before lizards. Other surprises are just around the corner. Adam and apes share the same birthday. The first man walked with dinosaurs and named them all! God’s Word is true, or evolution is true. No millions of years. There’s no room for compromise.

T. rex—the real king of the beasts. That’s the terror that Adam’s sin unleashed! You’ll run into this monster lurking near Adam and Eve. How’s this possible? Find out soon!

How did millions of mammoth fossils form?

Q: ‘It has been guesstimated that there are the remains of some six million woolly mammoths in the Arctic Circle alone. My neighbour states that it would be impossible for such a number to have multiplied in the approx. 1700 years from Creation to the Flood.’ — J.E.

A: First, six million mammoths is hugely exaggerated. There are fewer than 50 known woolly mammoth carcasses, only about a half-dozen of which were complete. An estimated 50,000 tusks have been found, although there may have been a million mammoths living at one time.

Second, modern creationists think that the mammoths were not fossilized by the Flood. Rather, they were fossilized about 700 years later by catastrophes towards the end of the Ice Age, which was an aftermath of the Flood. This is shown by the fossil locations — always in deposits near the surface throughout the mid and high latitudes, mostly in river valleys, occasionally in ice wedges.1

Third, the large numbers are a problem for the sceptic only because he has not performed the simple calculations required. Consider that the African elephant reaches breeding age at about 14, and its gestation period averages 670 days, while the Indian elephant matures even earlier and has a shorter gestation time.2 Thus it would not be unrealistic to assume that a single mammoth pair could have four offspring by the age of 25. So it is actually generous to the sceptic to assume that the population could double four times per century (even if the parents in each generation died soon after their offspring were weaned). The mammoths would probably have multiplied quite quickly after the single mammoth pair3 disembarked from the Ark, since there was less competition around. It takes only 22 population doublings to exceed eight million, and this number could be reached in only 550 years.

Cave men

After the Flood, some groups chose to shelter in caves. In harsher climates, these would have provided more protection than artificial dwellings. However, this does not make their inhabitants ‘primitive’ or unintelligent. Some people today choose an alternate lifestyle away from cities, in surroundings that could be considered ‘primitive’, without being any less intelligent than others.

The typical ‘cave-man’ is portrayed as a hairy, dim-witted, brutish creature. However, many cave paintings reveal a skill equivalent to that of some of the greatest artists of modern times. Recently, surprised scientists have even found ‘stone-age’ musical instruments, revealing a high level of understanding and musical ability.

Stonehenge

Stonehenge—its massively heavy, precisely positioned slabs defied explanation for those thinking of the builders as ‘less evolved’. It has recently been demonstrated that greased planks, ropes, and ingenuity applied by fully intelligent people would do the job. It is easy to see how many skills would be lost if people were broken into isolated small groups today. For example, one such group may have farmers and architects, but no mechanics, geologists, or blacksmiths. That group would know of the mechanic’s skill but not how to apply it. Similarly after Babel, those groups fortunate enough to carry the broadest range of skills would be able to transplant their previous culture rapidly. It would look as if it had sprung up ‘overnight’.

There seems to be no evidence showing how the knowledge to build pyramids was developed. Note the following two quotes by evolutionist researchers:

‘There is no evidence whatever of any technological breakthrough in the methods of quarrying or cutting stone which might account for the onset of pyramid building. All the tools and techniques used by the pyramid builders were in existence well before their time.’

‘The archaeological evidence suggested that rather than developing slowly and painfully, as is normal with human societies, the civilization of Ancient Egypt, like that of the Olmecs, emerged all at once and fully formed. Indeed, the period of transition from primitive to advanced society appears to have been so short that it makes no kind of historical sense.

‘Technological skills that should have taken hundreds or even thousands of years to evolve were brought into use almost overnight—
and with no apparent antecedents whatever.

Some of those groups which found themselves forced to use stone technology would have gained other knowledge in time, while we see cultures today which are still quite content to use stone tools. They are, however, fully human and intelligent. There is also evidence that cultures can lose technology. In ancient Egypt, the early pyramids were the best, with the quality declining until they were no longer built. As one secular researcher observed:

‘The pyramid age had come to an end, having lasted for a little more than a century. Pyramids were still being erected for about a thousand years, but they rapidly became smaller and shoddier, and it is quite clear that with the third Giza pyramid the zest had gone out of pyramid building forever.’

It goes on forever. You should read it. It will leave you gasping.
