UK says Saudi attacks in "final stages" of planning


RIYADH, Aug 8 (Reuters) - Britain warned on Monday that militants were in the last stages of preparing attacks in Saudi Arabia, as Washington closed its missions in the oil-rich country.

"There are credible reports that terrorists are in the final stages of planning attacks," said an updated advisory posted on the Web site of the British embassy in the capital Riyadh. Earlier, Britain cited "credible reports" that militants were planning attacks in the near future.

here Britain is warning Saudi Arabia that militants are planning to attack in SA. That's strange.

And yet, England was unable to figure out that militants were planning to strike in London a few weeks ago. Not once, but twice. SAUDI ARABIA, on the other hand, warned that militants were going to strike in London, but England apparently paid no attention.

Not once, but twice.

And they just might.

But it would be a bloody coup, win or lose. Abdullah is fairly savvy and is probably every bit as hard-hearted as his elders were.

Pakistan is the next one I worry about. Pakistan has nukes, maybe as many as 20. If Musharraf is toppled by militant "Islamists", then it's Katie-bar-the-door.
