Environmentalists give new energy bill lukewarm praise

GLENMONT SPRINGS, Colo. Environmentalists describe the new energy bill provisions as steps in the right direction -- but only just "baby steps."

The lukewarm praise goes to measures giving consumers tax credits for buying hybrid gasoline-electric cars and requiring better efficiency standards for appliances.

But an officer with the Wilderness Society calls these "small gestures." Steve Smith says the bill doesn't do enough to promote conservation. He says the measure falls short on protecting water resources.

3. That would be the SCLM in action.
Every environmental organization has unequivocally called this bill a piece of shit. Transforming that into "luke warm praise" is bogus reporting.

2. With everything else that is damaging to the environment in that bill
I would really question that lukewarm is the correct evaluation of the worthless piece of legislation. Anyone notice how much petrol went up this week? 10 cents a gallon in my neighborhood in one day. Boy, that energy bill sure helped the oil companies, didn't it?
