U.K. and Australia issue Saudi warnings
http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/08/08/news/terror.php

(Never heard of this site before...)

LONDON The British and Australian governments joined Washington on Monday in warning citizens that terrorists are planning attacks soon in Saudi Arabia. London said preparations for the attacks are in the final stages.

The warnings appeared to conflict with a statement by the Saudi Interior Ministry issued Sunday saying that it had no information of an imminent terror attack in the kingdom.

A warden's notice posted on the British Embassy Web site said nonessential staff and dependents at British missions in Saudi Arabia have been allowed to leave if they wished.

"There are credible reports that terrorists are in the final stages of planning attacks," it added.

1. I guess Washington has got it's black-ops guys in place
.
.
.

so then nudge their coalition lackeys into sounding the alarm

and then say

"we told you so"

is that an impossible scenario??

or am I just a paranoid neighbor across that northern border?

3. I misread the title...
When I saw "...issue Saudi warnings" I thought it meant that UK and Australians citizens should avoid Saudis - as in people. Even if it that isn't what the article states - people should still avoid Saudis... the people that is.

4. The International Herald Tribune is run by the New York Times
and a lot of its reports are reprints from the NYT (which means you can get them without a userid and password). It'll be interesting to see if, when the NYT puts its comment pieces like Krugman as subscription-only, then continue to print them in the IHT.
