4. Mushy's a dead man walking anyway
It's just a matter of time before he cracks down on one too many Islamic clerics and they launch a jihad on his sorry ass.

They're already seething at Mushy canceling elections and not leaving office like he promised.

5. Musharraf may not be the one to have the final say
A number of militant "Islamist revolutionary" groups operate unchecked in the mountains of Pakistan. Should such a coup d'etat overthrow Musharraf, the whole country would become a staging ground for insurgent operations.

For the insurgents, many factors make this a desirable goal. Pakistan has several nukes, variously estimated at 10-50. Al-Qaida with functioning nuclear weapons would mark an escalation in the scenario. It would give Bush all he needs to make a second major crackdown on American Democracy and escalate his "War on Terrah".

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are the "pincers" of the long-term strategy of the militants: Deprive the West of cheap oil, and use nuclear bombs as a plausible threat.

The USA, of course, can "win" this war. All it will take is the suppression of Democracy, an enormous military draft, destruction of the Western economic system, possible destruction of several American civilian targets by nuclear attacks, seven- and eight-digit non-combatant death tolls in the Middle East, irremediable environmental damage, and a re-ignition of religio-cultural hostility last seen during the Crusades.

Or, some peacemakers could step up to the plate and make them see the errors of their warmongering ways. Any wagers?

8. well, that was disappointing
I was hoping the thread was about putting Musharraf on trial for
formenting a coup against a democratic state, or how Musharraf had
turned states evidence and was willing to hand us Bushco and Blair
on a silver platter at the hague.

Then the terror war crime can only find its logical end in the hague.
