Survivors of Bhopal gas tragedy protest against Dow Chemical
Posted on 09 Aug 2005 # ANI

<snip> Scores of protesters urged the company to take up responsibility of cleaning toxic materials that is still lying around the factory compound and to provide residents with basic amenities like safe drinking water and compensation to the affected people.

“On the 63rd anniversary of the slogan ‘Britishers go out’ given by Mahatma Gandhi, four organisations of gas victims have organised this protest rally against Dow company. With this rally we want to convey this message to Dow Company that they should immediately clean the toxic material lying around the union Carbide, which is contaminating water and soil. We also demand that Dow should give compensation to all those affected by the gas tragedy. If they don’t do so, we will stop its business not only here but across the nation and force it to leave the country,” said Satinath Sandgi, activist of Bhopal Group for Information and Action.

The residents are demanding Dow company to clean up the toxic material lying in open and find suitable place for disposing it.

‘Dow Company has taken over Union carbide and now it is its responsibility to give compensation to gas victims. The toxic material which is contaminating the soil and water here, the company should take it to America. They should dispose the toxic material in their country, we won’t allow them to dispose material anywhere in India,” said Rashida Bi, victim of Bhopal gas tragedy. <snip>

2. There have been several, but I don't know current status of any
"The International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal" had a boycott petition aimed at the Indian government http://www.petitiononline.com/dowiocl/petition.html but may have won that fight http://www.petitiononline.com/cgi-bin/mlk?http://www.bhopal.net

"Revolt against the empire" is a multitarget action against pesticide manufacturers http://www.thegreatboycott.net/boycott_doc.html

Greenpeace has been after DOW for chlorine production for some time now and Bhopal has sometimes been a major campaign issue http://www.greenpeace.org/international/news/take-the-message-direct-to-dow

try google http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&newwindow=1&safe=off&c2coff=1&q=Dow+boycott&btnG=Search

3. Be sure to read the linked story in full. It shows the REAL reasons...
for outsourcing: a corporation murders 33,000 people with its malevolently greedy criminal negligence, avoids any clean-up responsibilities, gets away with paying out only about $2 grand per death and then -- when it merges with another monster monopoly -- gleefully says to the ravaged people, "fuck you, we changed our name so we don't owe you anything anymore."
