DHL Secures Homeland Security Deal
DHL Secures Homeland Security Deal

Express and logistics company DHL said yesterday that it won an exclusive five-year contract from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the transportation of all of its letters and small packages in the United States and worldwide.

Under the contract, which takes effect immediately, DHL handles same-day, next-day, 2nd-day and ground delivery of parcels for all DHS components including the Secret Service, Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, Transportation Security Administration and Border and Transportation Security. Previously, multiple carriers handled the department's shipping needs.

3. DHL = Union Buster
THey have been trying to get rid of the union in the Brewer, Maine facility. Local unions, as well as state Democrats, have been protesting with the DHL employees. If I remember correctly, the protests worked and the company backed down. But the ill will remains!
