FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE


MARINE DIES OF WOUNDS SUFFERED NEAR AR RAMADI

CAMP FALLUJAH, Iraq – A Marine assigned to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), died of wounds Aug. 10 from the detonation of an improvised explosive device.

The incident occurred last night during combat operations near Ar Ramadi, Iraq.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.



Lance Cpl. Evenor C. Herrera, 22, of Gypsum, Colo., died Aug. 10 from wounds received from the detonation of an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations near Ar Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif. As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, his unit was attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

4. Weepin Jesus! These poor guys keep taking it on the chin and it
keeps getting worse over there.

Whats worse is I see no leadership. No plan has been articulated (beyond hold the course, democracy on the march, blah blah blah) and from what I hear, read and see, things are backsliding badly.

I pray that we don't end in Iran, Syria or elsewhere. Casualties would quadruple. Those countries weren't crippled by years of sanctions and also have standing armies.
