Granholm Keeps Lead Over DeVos in Michigan

(Angus Reid Global Scan) – Jennifer Granholm could be re-elected in the Great Lake State, according to a poll by EPIC/MRA. 56 per cent of respondents in Michigan would vote for the incumbent governor in a head-to-head contest against Republican Dick DeVos.

Granholm—a Democrat—was elected in the November 2002 election, defeating Republican challenger Dick Posthumus with 51 per cent of the vote.

In June, DeVos—former chief executive officer at Alticor and husband of former state Republican chairwoman Betsy DeVos—announced he would seek the Republican gubernatorial nomination. State representative Jack Hoogendyk and state senator Nancy Cassis have also launched bids for the GOP nod.

Earlier this month, DeVos said the current governor had no "significant record" of leadership, adding, "She was an attorney general and wrote a couple of legal opinions. That’s far from demonstrated leadership, taking clear positions, managing a large and complex organization, which state government is."

2. "Dick Posthumus"???

Oh cripes. Man, if he wasn't a repug I'd pity him for that last name. Surprised he kept it as a politician.

4. Amway keeps changing its name in the same way...
that a criminal has multiple aliases. Plus it helps them snag unsuspecting prospects that wouldn't give them the time of day if they knew they were dealing with that worthless turd of a company.

8. here's a good start.....I used to have tons of stuff on them.....
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/2/22/155525/061

de Vos is one of the big wheels at the CNP....you should see the list of names in the membership

Dobson made a speech before them a few years ago, in which he castigated them for being too liberal

Bush made a speech there in 1998 or 1999 so secret that it's been denied that copies exist, although most, if not all, the other major ones have been recorded and are/were available

9. here...if you want to see how REALLY crazy this guy is
Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 05:29 PM by Gabi Hayes
http://www.wildershow.com/dobson.htm

in which he uses some VERY twisted logic to equate abortion with state-instigated INFANTICIDE

among other stuff

this is the meat upon which the seriously crazy christian reconstructionists that are IN CHARGE of things feed

Tom DeLay is a CNP member, among many other politicians

he also gets to a crux of why they "won" the last few elections: start talking less about taxes, and play up the morality issue, citing a talk he with Phil Gramm in 95, when he at first thought Gramm was his best hope to win the presidency

it's a truly stunning display of their state of dysfunctionality

11. and how do you top this?
also, why doesn't it get mentioned EVERY time Dobson opens his mouth?

In his opinion column, Garry Wills revisited the wild claim of conservative leader James Dobson, whose book Children at Risk reported that the White House distributed a workbook to schools asking children "to draw the world's largest penis, compare white and black penises, and show their parents making love." (I'm quoting Wills.)

Dobson has never been able to substantiate this claim, despite repeated requests for evidence. And Wills persists in pointing out the credibility gap because the book's introduction was written by William Bennett. "Bennett goes about denouncing Clinton as a liar," Wills says, "but he promotes the kind of lies that right-wingers want to hear."
