Wounded Guard soldier ready to return to Iraq
http://www.kctv.com/global/story.asp?s=3723259&ClientType=Printable

~snip~

His wounds included a shattered ankle, three broken ribs, a punctured lung, a broken hand, fractured vertebrae and burns.

Today, at age 24, he can't run or lift weights, and he finds it painful even to hold his young daughter.

But Gray, who joined the National Guard in 1998 as a high school senior, says he has reenlisted and is ready to return if his battalion _ based in eight communities from Salina and Concordia northeast to Atchison and Troy _ is activated again.

"I just feel like it's my duty," Gray said.

....Excuse me? he was allowed to reenlist in his shape??

4. They should never have let someone this badly injured sign up again...
I think it shows how desperate our military is for soldiers...

And let's not beat the soldiers up here... They have friends - people that feel like family to them - stuck in Iraq. I heard this from several uncles, cousins, who were overseas and saw active combat in WWII and Nam. They become so close to the people in their unit that they feel like they are deserting them when they are injured or their tour is up.

The soldiers are just trying to protect each other - it's this administration that should be attacked for starting this illegal war.

6. his life must be sucking pretty bad...
...to re-enlist to go back there. I fear many Americans are feeling the shitty effects of unemployment, inflation, ridiculous gas prices, and overall lower quality of life. Maybe this is all a ploy to bring enlistment numbers back up ... people who feel like they have nothing left to live for. Sad.
