KATHMANDU: More than 3,000 activists staged a sit-in protest in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu yesterday to protest at King Gyanendra’s power grab in February, witnesses and organisers said.

Over 3,000 people including members of the Peace Society of Nepal, supporters of the country’s seven main parties, , writers, teachers, journalists, artists and others took part in the rally protesting against King Gyanendra's autocratic rule and demanding the country's return to democracy. <snip>
