Politics of War Could Pivot on Mother's Vigil - latimes
August 17, 2005
latimes.com : National News

By Ronald Brownstein, Times Staff Writer

WASHINGTON — The high-profile vigil near President Bush's Texas ranch by Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq last year, could scramble the politics of the war as much for her allies as for the target of her protest.

...

"It has gotten people back in the fight," said Eli Pariser, executive director of the political action committee associated with the liberal MoveOn.org. "What we're seeing is a lot of people … recommitting themselves."

...

The attention Sheehan has attracted by camping near Bush's ranch in Crawford while seeking a meeting with him shows that politics does abhor a vacuum.

...

"We're not going to stop there, either," she said Tuesday. "We are going to join forces and we are going to just transform this country from a country that always supports war and killing to a country that is at peace."

3. I think every one is forgetting the time on this thing.
One is that Vietnam built. In the late 50's Ike sent in helpers and then Kennedy sent in some army and it kept building. At the same time we had the civil rights movement that fell right after the women's movement. That is a thing that would make me think that people were in line to see that things could be done by getting out in to the street. Now this time the movement were in the street with a lot of people fast yet the govt. of Britain and US is not hearing it. As both sides seem to still be with the war. I am not sure what this all means but it seems to me the ones that are so in love with this war are the same people who hated the civil rights, plus women 's movement and us giving up in Vietnam and these are also the same people who are in power in congress and the WH. I do not think they are hearing all this at all,and the people with some power before were the people near the movement on these things.

4. "some analysts say..."
There's that wonderful neocon-whore attribution. :eyes:

Who? What analyst? A systems analyst? Your psychiatric analyst?

What kind of attribution is that? 'some analysts' can turn out to be a bunch of drinking buddies.

Here's another:

"One GOP strategist said that,..."

Rather than leave it anonymous, why not name the name of this alleged strategist? hmmmm? Since it seems so important to QUOTE this person, why not say who it is?

7. Ya know, what really pisses me off the most is that they are all trying to
ignore the "war on a lie" line - part of what I believe Cindy was trying to bring forward. In stead it's twisted into political strategy, labeling the anti-war camp as some sort of extreme, while the whores in Washington from both sides stick out their thumb to see which direction the wind is blowing.

"thats all in the past" we need to 'move on and deal with the present" and the M$MWs and our leaders HATE to focus on the past when it comes to THEIR fucking LIES :argh:

13. Everone who played, "follow the war leader, w" has
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 09:21 PM by Pithy Cherub
a real issue with how much attention this is getting. The IWR votes from prominent Democrats is and will be at issue for the next two election cycles. Cindy has changed the dynamic that allows no one to sleep peacefully if they voted for this or can not explain how the lies were exposed by a heartbroken Mom from Nowhere, California more forcefully than anyone else. Everone has underestimated her staying power which is greater than the current Coward in Crawford.

It is fitting that the Dove of Peace is a Mom who paid a horrendous price with her family so someone else's may stay intact. Go Cindy!:yourock:

That's my dream team ticket.

Seriously, these are the kinds of people we need to elect to office. People with integrity, sense, and compassion.

Cindy's actions are bringing hope back into the movement,
especially after the loss in 2004.

Wasn't mothers' day originally to commemorate the dead soldiers of
the civil war and to prevent war?
