Iran, China discuss defense cooperation
http://www.mehrnews.ir/en/NewsDetail.aspx?NewsID=219677

TEHRAN, Aug. 17 (MNA) -- “The excellent discipline in the Chinese Army is one of the most illustrious characteristics of the country,” the commander of the Ground Forces of the Iranian Army, Brigadier General Nasser Mohammadi Far, said here on Wednesday.

Mohammadi Far made the remarks in a meeting with a Chinese military delegation that has come to Iran to hold negotiations on developing military relations between Iran and China, deepening bilateral ties between the two countries, and paving the way for military cooperation.

He went on to say that the vast country of China has organized a powerful army in the region through relying on efficient military training, perseverance, and discipline.

“Our mutual enemies possess advanced military technology, and undoubtedly they would rely on this technology in any possible future wars. Therefore, it seems necessary that both Iran and China upgrade their defense and military technology,” he noted.

7. What could W do about it?
Draft the SALVATION Army?

He showed his hand. He gets totally and utterly played again. He has nothing to even threatent them with-he certainly can't go making demands on China anyway (holders of 12.5% of US debt and keeping the housing bubble inflated).

13. Well put, S.
The other day, I was near a globe of the world. I spun it around a little bit. Took a closer look at the U.S. Wow, I thought. It's huge. It's a real big country. Wouldn't some emerging power love to TAKE THAT?

As we go off, fighting wars of aggression which get us nowhere, except with our wheels in the sand, spinning around. I sometimes wonder what we would do if there was a real threat to the US, not some phony attack but a real one.

MEANWHILE, our real enemies are meeting in private rooms. They're discussing the US. They know what we're doing. They realize fully that we're in an oil grab. It was a desperate move. Even Paul Wolfowitz said, "We had no choice on that one".

Like I said, a big beautiful country, left totally vulnerable.

15. As we all ride this roller coaster of stupidity...
I think about those assholes over at PNAC and if their pencil necks thought about this little issue.

It appears not. They can talk tough all they want but the reality is, yeah this will be a new american century, but we won't be in charge. That's what makes it new. Isn't that just special.

I said it before, I'll say it again, we had our day in the sun, it's china's turn. And it will be a long turn, they unlike ourselves, think long term and have plenty of patience.

and in a time when we need that same type of long term thinking, we are stuck with a short attention spanned, drug using, dry drunk, mush mouthed, pet goat reading, don't think about him much, better things to do, time to move on, lie spewing, baseball card collecting, failed oil business man, colossal failure*.

I just sooooo get the warm fuzzy's when I let my brain melt out of my head and let the soma do it's job.

16. the PNAC drafters saw the writing on the wall
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 02:14 PM by democracy eh
the PNAC document was basically a last ditch plan to maintain American hegemony by containing China, subverting a weakened Russia and controlling access to/price of oil (bring it back down to $14 a barrel to ensure the US economy/society could continue to grow on the premise of cheap oil)(and preventing Chinese control of oil supplies). Everything in PNAC was about a narrow window to seize and maintain power - even the points on control of the space commons (militarization of space) it was about putting the technology in place to shoot down Chinese Satellites b4 the Chinese had the technology to shoot down American satellites (and then limit the ability to run a modern war via GPS). Their plan was to for the US to benefit from a booming China, but under American rules, not Chinese rules.

Some PNAC initiatives (Ukraine) were accomplished, unfortunately others (Iraq) were not. It wasn't as easy to do in real life as it was on paper.

17. Like they say in the military, battle plans never survive contact...
I liken the PNAC to the anal retentive bride. They make all these grand plans and never make allowences for mistakes, screw ups, or basic human stupidity (moron*). And then they freak out, fire someone, blame someone else or throw a hissy fit when things do go as planned.

and who suffers? The guests (us) because we have to watch some stupid trustfunder melt down while we have a shitty time with no direction.

Funny how that works, huh?

colossal failure*.

Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 04:22 PM by donkeyotay
But what about his brain trust? Condi is described as "brilliant." Wolfie is a Ph.D (mathematician?). Cheney, Rummy... CEOs. Think tank senior analysts, etc. If these people are so fucking smart, how come they are driving our country into the ditch?

21. Your question IS your answer- in a round about way-
Correct, the real brains are indeed, brilliant-
They also do not GIVE A DAMN what happens to
"America" in the way you and I think of "America."
They are light years ahead of us on that concept.

There IS no "America" in their view of the world,
only population among the rest of the world's population
ignorant enough to be of some use to them, for a whlie
anyway.

The military might they control is "American" but no
longer serving "America."

The noecons are all about POWER.
CORPORATE power to insure global domination.

Power in the hands of a very few, over the rest
of the many, including you and me.

23. Exactly. If they're so smart, how come they appear to be so dumb?
Simple answer: they aren't working for us.

24. You got it- "Dumb" is relative to the question. "Who benefits?"
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 05:12 PM by BeHereNow
If you apply "dumb" to "American" interests, yes they appear
very "dumb" indeed.

I you apply "dumb" to Neocon Multinational-Corporatist interest,
the are indeed- BRILLIANT.

America, as we dreamed it, will never exist again.
It's over. Perhaps not the spirit, held by people like
the ones who find their way to DU and other like minded
groups, but the cold hard truth of what our "America"
has become is here to stay and I am afraid and will get
worse before is gets even worse.
"Better" is not a word I would use to describe
what's coming for America.

The truly BRILLIANT aspect of the minds in charge?
They got some Americans to actually VOTE for
the death of our country.
Now you have to admit, that is brilliant, in the most evil way possible.
