British soldiers serving in Iraq to get germ-fighting underwear

LONDON Defense officials in Britain are briefing the public on a new wrinkle in the fight against the heat and dust of Iraq and Afghanistan -- germ-fighting underwear.

The antimicrobial underpants have been introduced by the Ministry of Defense as part of a new desert uniform. They are the first undergarments issued to British troops, who traditionally have supplied their own.

A military spokesman says the underwear is not only coated to prevent bacterial infection, developers tried to arrange the seams so they don't chafe.

7. Yep. My toes said "there's a fungus among us" too.

It took a LOT of diligence to stay fungus-free. I went through two pairs of socks every day. I was thankful for the newer design jungle boots as opposed to the older all-leather (stateside) boots. The mesh helped evaporation. I'm glad I wasn't slogging in rice paddies very often. Thankfully, I never had to benefit from the steel plate, but the punji pit protection was terrific, I was told.

There's also coolmax underwear and clothing and clothes with natural insect repellant worked into fabric too. These should all be issued to troops, especially in Iraq along better body and vehicle armor. Will it happen? No we will not waste our money on this kind of luxury, we will make sure it's stolen by Halliburton and the like

bedsheets did not go over well. Wait til the soldiers break out in a rash!! they will get pulled off the market real quick. Dont y'all know that experimental stuff is tried out on the military before it goes public.
