Frist Defends Stem Cell Reversal In Meetings With State Voters

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist says he's still pro-life and has a pro-life voting record.

However, the Tennessee senator says that as a heart surgeon he's used to taking living tissue from one person and transplanting it to give life to someone else.

Frist has scheduled a series of visits across Tennessee while Congress is on recess. He's being asked about changing his position to support more federal funding for stem cell research.

Frist broke with President Bush on the stem cell issue in a speech on the Senate floor last month.

2. Does anyone even object to stem cell research, besides Bush?
Isn't he, like, the only person that's making this an issue? I haven't seen the numbers, but my guess is that Americans in all states of both parties overwhelmingly support this issue. Or are there really that many people in this country that are that bass ackwards?

4. What's to defend?
Using stem cells (that may or may not ever become babies--ask anyone who's ever miscarried) to help people living with diseases and/or chronic conditions?

There can't be that many mouth-breathers in Tennessee.
