Iraq casts darkening cloud over Bush administration
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 06:40 PM by deadparrot
WASHINGTON (AFP) - With the US death toll climbing, support at home plunging and a stalemate over a constitution stalling the political process, the Iraq war is casting a darkening cloud over George W. Bush's presidency.

The failure of Iraqi negotiators to nail down a charter by last Monday's deadline was only the latest bad news for Bush, who is under mounting pressure to set a timetable for withdrawing the 138,000 US troops in Iraq.

Signs of alarm are now starting to surface within Bush's Republican Party, which is fearful that discontent over the war could loosen, if not threaten, its solid hold over Congress in the November 2006 elections.

Party stalwarts such as Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska have become increasingly outspoken about the administration's policy of toughing it out against an insurgency raging 28 months after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein.

5. What "George W. Bush's presidency"?
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 06:39 PM by The_Casual_Observer
What kind of a "president" is that asshole? Hides out on a pig farm and uses morons like limbaugh and rove to get his message out. Folks, this bush mess is world class all time historic tragedy. We will be lucky if the whole thing doesn't end in some kind of nuclear war.

13. Stay the course!
Eventually the vast majority of the American people will come to see Bush and the Neo-Cons for what they really are -- if they just stay the course, like clueless W refusing to see Cindy because he "needs to get on with his life."

9. One Very Sick Situation
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 10:40 PM by ShockediSay
We got a president (who never came close to a day's battle in his life) on a 5 week vacation being waited on hand and foot in a seriously air conditioned Texas millionaire style ranchero;

We got a mother who lost her son in his stupid war, camped out on his doorstep out in the Texas heat, who wants to talk to him about his big ideas and why she lost her son;

We got I don't know how many thousands of our nation's armed forces, out in the heat of the Iraqi August (try it sometime) suffering and dying, getting blinded and crippled;

We got an Iraq that had a better economy, more rights for women, and better protection against religious fanatics with better security for the general populace under Saddam Hussein;

We got our economy set to tank on account of gas prices (?!?!?) and a new energy policy that gives away more tax breaks to those poor oil companies who are so profitable now they can't give away their money to their executives fast enough;

And they say the Democrats are looking for a positive message?????

HOW ABOUT WELL-BEING, SECURITY AND PROSPERITY FOR THE NATION AS WHOLE????

Bush even admitted this, himself!

11. They're alarmed - good! Let's hope they do something stupid - then
again that's pretty much a daily occurrence with the Repugs. :eyes:

How many are simply worried about loosing seats and how many are worried about the truth coming out and having their names dragged into the lies and scandals pulled off by this maladmin? Aiding and abetting - treason!!!!
