Bush invokes September 11 to defend Iraq war in Radio Address
Reuters' title was: Bush invokes Sept 11 to defend Iraq war. YET AGAIN.

Here's some excerpts.

Bush invokes Sept 11 to defend Iraq war

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President George W. Bush launched a counter-offensive against growing public discontent over Iraq on Saturday, when he defended the war as a way of protecting Americans from another September 11 attack, a message he will reinforce when he takes to the road next week.

"Our troops know that they're fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere to protect their fellow Americans from a savage enemy," Bush said in his weekly radio address.

"They know that if we do not confront these evil men abroad, we will have to face them one day in our own cities and streets, and they know that the safety and security of every American is at stake in this war," he said.

Bush next week will speak to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Convention in Utah, and meet with members of the Idaho National Guard and the Mountain Home Air Force Base, which played a leading role in the air bombing campaign in Afghanistan after the September 11 attacks.

2. He will never cease to amaze me.
The Iraqi had nothing to do with 9-11. Saddam, even though he was a brutal dictator, was being controlled internationally. He posed no threat. I feel for the people under him, but we had no business there. Shrub is a prick beyond belief and the idiots that support him are mentally ill.

23. Everything they say is self-descriptive declamation.
They basically announce their agendas wholesale because there's nothing we can do about it.

We really need to make him defend his position on this, as it's indefensible as far as I can tell.

8. BushCo has yet to give the US public one shred
of evidence that al queda or bin laden was in any way responsible for 9/11, and to my knowledge neither bin laden nor the group have claimed any involvement.

If I am wrong, please show the me evidence they have presented to the people of the nation.

22. Bin Laden's said 9/11 was his idea.
I don't speak Arabic, but al-Jazeera does. I'll accept it's translation (posted on its web site 11/1/04) of OBL's claim of responsibility:

And as I looked at those demolished towers in Lebanon, it entered my mind that we should punish the oppressor in kind and that we should destroy towers in America in order that they taste some of what we tasted and so that they be deterred from killing our women and children.

There's more...:

http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/79C6AF22-98FB-4A1C-B21F-2BC36E87F61F.htm

The Chimp's decision to blame Iraq for 9/11, and to attack Iraq was insanity. Chimp deserves to be impeached and banished to his pig ranch in Texas for his crimes. And there is no evidence that bin Laden and Saddam ever met, much less conspired together. Chimp's continued invocation of 9/11 as justification for Iraq defies logic and justice.

But by his own words, and a broad foundation of other evidence, OBL was the 9/11 mastermind.

13. Bush takes a lesson from the Nazis
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." -- Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Propaganda Minister

President Bush is hoping to revive falling public support for the war in Iraq by convincing Americans that U.S. troops fighting abroad are making them safer at home.

Opposition Democrats say the president's approach to Iraq will only lead to more U.S. casualties.

President Bush says U.S. troops fighting overseas are laying the foundations of peace for generations to come.

"Our troops know that they are fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere to protect their fellow Americans from a savage enemy," he said. "They know that, if we do not confront these evil men abroad, we will have to face them one day in our own cities and streets, and they know that the safety and security of every American is at stake in this war, and they know, we will prevail."

The president has a series of events in the coming week meant to regain support for the war in Iraq at a time when public opinion polls show less than 40 percent of Americans approve of the way he is handling the war.

15. Heh
it will be just as big of a success as his SS propaganda onslaught. No one believes a word that Smirk says any more. It would be laughable if he weren't using tax dollars to pay for it.

18. If the Chimperor
really wanted to make us safer, he would have our borders secured, enough National Guard home to protect U.S. and not be cutting money from first responders, etc. etc.

What an idiot. Even the dumb redstate mentalities must be seeing through this crock enough to know that things have never worked out the way W tells them they will. This has been a longstanding pattern and it's never going to happen the way he tells them. How I wish he would develop Pinocchio Nose!

20. Well if that's the case Mr. pResident
then you need to bring our troops home right away because YOU SIR are "Terrorizing the Hell out of the American public" and we need the troops here to support and protect us right now.

I mean, why go looking to confront evil men abroad? We have plenty running this country right now and our safety and security is definitely at stake.
