Wedding bells chimed at Cleveland City Hall Sunday as Rep. Dennis Kucinich said vows in a ceremony attended by about 250 people, including a host of politicians and a couple of movie stars.

Kucinich, 58, married Elizabeth Harper, a British citizen who works for a monetary-policy think tank in Chicago. It's his third marriage.

The wedding was performed on the Mall outside City Hall, followed by a reception inside. Guests included Mayor Jane Campbell, Rep. Steve LaTourette, Rep. Tim Ryan and former Rep. James Stanton. Actors Shirley MacLaine and Sean Penn also attended.

"It was a lovely ceremony, and the congressman really wanted to do this in the heart of Cleveland," said Doug Gordon, Kucinich's spokesman...

23. Wow! Thank you for the link, Greeby!
Dennis is the candidate that I voted for in the May 2004 Indiana primary. It was a satisfying and proud vote even though it didn't mean anything for the nomination.

Dennis was the better candidate in 2004, and he was 100-percent right about the war in Iraq (and so was Russ Feingold).

6. Ms. Harper must be a special person.
I wish them every happiness. The one-on-one interview with Kucinich during the primaries was the most compelling I've ever seen. He is a truly remarkable man.

14. poll still 4 pt spread, interesting story on that page (Off Topic!)
CLEVELAND -- A special prosecutor is looking into the handling of the 2004 presidential election recount in Cleveland. Special prosecutor Kevin Baxter, of Erie County, said up to 10 people have been subpoenaed in the investigation into the Cuyahoga County recount last December. He said the investigation is only in the fact-finding stage.

The investigation was prompted by complaints from Green Party candidate David Cobb and Libertarian Party candidate Michael Badnarik. They claim the sample recount precincts weren't randomly selected and a test-run recount was done without witnesses.

Cobb and Badnarik together received less than one-half of 1 percent of the Ohio vote. The state went to President George W. Bush, assuring his reelection.

(oops, lost the link, same page as the Cindy poll)

All it took was just one look
Kucinich and his English bride met at his office

Wednesday, August 24, 2005
Diane Solov
Plain Dealer Reporter

On the day that Elizabeth Kucinich was born, her future husband was stumping his way toward becoming one of the most controversial mayors in Cleveland history.

"I don't need on-the-job training," said Dennis Kucinich, then 31, in a speech on Oct. 22, 1977, the day his bride was born. "I believe the city is at a point in its history when it cannot afford to have an inexperienced mayor."

So here's what's on file in Room 146 of the Cuyahoga County Courthouse. The new Mrs. Kucinich was born Elizabeth Jane Harper. She is 27.

She is a consultant, and hails from Upminster, a town about 25 miles east of London. That's London, England, not London, Ohio. The house she lists as her home sits on a lane in an agricultural parish scattered around a 10th-century church, according to an e-mail from a town historian...
