Iranian freed from Guantanamo was mistreated-Iran

TEHRAN, Aug 23 (Reuters) - An Iranian man freed from Guantanamo Bay prison developed mental disorders as a result of his treatment there, Iran's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday but the United States disputed the claim.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said the released man, Mohammad Anuarkord, required medical care to recover from the ordeal.

"Assessments show he has developed mental disorders and psychological problems in Guantanamo due to the inhumane attitude and harassment of his jailers," the semi-official ISNA students news agency quoted Asefi as saying.

In Washington, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack disputed Iran's claims of abuse and said these "types of news stories pop up quite a bit" from former detainees.

1. I just have to say this...
I'm wondering just what in the hell we are doing at Guantanamo?

So many prisoners leave, with what sounds like--Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. We are traumatizing people.

I am seriously wondering if our government isn't conducting their own experiments on inducing trauma and dissociative states in others--for some kind of sick gain.

Serial child abusers often attempt to traumatize children into disassociating--so severely that their personalities split.

I know what I'm saying may sound outrageous--but most of the detainees don't report physical abuse. They report being completely traumatized and shell shocked--so much so that they require months of therapy.

Again, what in the hell are we doing and why are we doing it?
